Lisbon (c-enˈlɪzbən; , -ptliʒˈβoɐIPA) is the capital city and largest city of Portugal, with a population of 545,245 within its administrative limits on a land area of 84.8 km2 (32.7 sqmi). The urban area of Lisbon extends beyond the administrative city limits with a population of 3 million on a area of 958 km2 (369.9 sqmi), it is the 9th most populous urban area in the European Union. About 2,831,000 people live in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (which represents approximately 27% of the population of the country). Lisbon is the westernmost large city located in Europe, as well as its westernmost capital city and the only one along the Atlantic coast. It lies in the western Iberian Peninsula on the Atlantic Ocean and the Tagus River.

Lisbon is recognised as an alpha- city because of its importance in finance, commerce, media, entertainment, arts, international trade, education, and tourism. It is one of the major economic centres on the continent, with a growing financial centre and the largest/second largest container port in the "Europe's Atlantic coast", Lisbon Portela Airport serves about 13 million passengers per year, motorway network and hub of high-speed rail (Alfa Pendular) linking main cities in Portugal, and in 2013 will have a rail's high-speed connection to Spain. Lisbon is the 25th most livable city in the World according to lifestyle magazine Monocle. The city is the seventh-most-visited city in Southern Europe, after Istanbul, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, Athens, and Milan, with 1,740,000 tourists in 2009. The Lisbon region is the wealthiest region in Portugal, GDP PPP per capita is 26,100 euros (4.7% higher than the average European Union's GDP PPP per capita). It is the tenth richest metropolitan area by GDP on the continent amounting to 98 billion euros and thus -34,850 per capita. This is 40% higher than the average European Union's GDP per capita. The city occupies 32nd place of highest gross earnings in the world. Most of the headquarters of multinationals in the country are located in the Lisbon area and it is the ninth city in the world in terms of quantity of international conferences. It is also the political centre of the country, as seat of Government and residence of the Head of State. The seat of the district of Lisbon and the centre of the Lisbon region.

Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world, outdating other modern European capitals such as London, Paris and Rome by hundreds of years. Julius Caesar made it a municipium called Felicitas Julia, adding to the name Olissipo. Ruled by a series of Germanic tribes from the fifth century, it was captured by the Moors in the eighth century. In 1147, the Crusaders under Afonso Henriques reconquered the city for the Christians and since then it has been a major political, economic, and cultural centre of Portugal. Unlike most capital cities, Lisbon's status as the capital of Portugal has never been granted or confirmed officially by statute or in written form. Its position as the capital has formed through constitutional convention, making its position as de facto capital a part of the Constitution of Portugal.

Lisbon hosts two agencies of the European Union: the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) and the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA). The Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) is also headquartered in Lisbon.

Lisbon has two sites listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site: Belém Tower and Jerónimos Monastery. Furthermore, in 1994, Lisbon was the European Capital of Culture and in 1998 organised an Expo '98 (1998 Lisbon World Exposition).

Lisbon enjoys a Mediterranean climate. Among all the metropolises in Europe, it has the warmest winters (together with Barcelona), with average temperatures 15 C (84.6 F) during the day and 8 C (72 F) at night in the period from December to February. The typical summer's season lasts about six months, from May to October, although also in November, March and April temperatures sometimes reach around 20 C (93.6 F).

no intention of making fun of someone I just uploaded this video report, no editing from me a video from SIC Notícias ------------------------------------------ "Amy was visibly nervous, (...) For the first 3 songs you just couldn't understand a word she was singing and she kept herself busy trying to understand how to fix the height of the microphone. WTF! Amy complains she can't play the guitar cause she has some kind of injury in her right wrist... she can barely hold the guitar's weight! She finally actually attempts to play the guitar... Crash and burn... Amy is NOT singing... she is high... the show has no rhythm... total disappointment!! Amy gets emotional and babbles something to the crow (or to Blake) - "you love me but I'm such a mess" then starts to sing 'Love is a Losing Game' and cries... crowd goes wild calling out her name... Amy asks for the crowd to make some noise for her and her husband Blake's first year anniversary. She confesses she just saw him today and that Blake will be home in a couple of weeks! OMG Amy falls on stage!!!! There are always assistances ready to help her with everything and she can't keep herself upright! Damn high heels and crack! Well at least now we can understand what she is singing! Ah ah! Amy says Lenny Kravitz (next act on stage tonight) will fall on stage too! She says "well he probably won't but if Lenny falls on stage he would be embarrassed and I'm not!" Go Amy!!! Rock that stage!! Now Amy says her voice is ...

Please enjoy this video in HD, High Definition! Cristiano Ronaldo is one of my favorite players and I thought it would be really cool to make him a tribute, FIFA 09 style. Not only is this video filled with lots of nice goals and great skills, you'll also notice that this video actually has a story... It's based on Ronaldo's career as a footballer. He starts at Sporting Lisbon and ends up being the worlds greatest, you can see him wearing the world xl kit in the end of the vid. I'm very happy with the result and hopefully you will like it too!
