Karachi ( ; ) is the largest city, main seaport and the main financial centre of Pakistan, and the capital of the province of Sindh. With an estimated population between 13 million and 15 million, Karachi is one of the world's largest cities in terms of population, the 13th largest urban agglomeration, and the 4th largest metropolitan area in the world. It is Pakistan's premier centre of banking, industry, and trade and is home to Pakistan's largest corporations, including those involved in textiles, shipping, automotive industry, entertainment, the arts, fashion, advertising, publishing, software development and medical research. The city is a major hub of higher education in South Asia and the wider Islamic world.

Karachi is ranked as a Beta world city. It was the original capital of Pakistan until the construction of Islamabad and is the location of the Port of Karachi and Port Bin Qasim, two of the region's largest and busiest ports. After the independence of Pakistan, the city population increased dramatically when hundreds of thousands of Urdu-speaking migrants or Muhajirs from India, East Pakistan (later Bangladesh) and other parts of South Asia came to settle in Karachi.

The city is spread over 3527 km2 (3527000000 m2) in area, almost four times bigger than Hong Kong. It is locally known as the "City of Lights" ( ) and "The bride of the cities" ( ) for its liveliness, and the "City of the Quaid" ( ), having been the birth and burial place of Quaid-e-Azam (Muhammad Ali Jinnah), the founder of Pakistan, who made the city his home after Pakistan's independence.

Pakistan is a republic in South Asia, marking the region where South Asia converges with Central Asia and the Middle East.It has a 1046 kilometer (650 mile) coastline along the Arabian Sea in the south, and is bordered by Afghanistan and Iran in the west, India in the east and China in the far northeast. Pakistan is the sixth most populous country in the world and is the second most populous country with a Muslim majority. Its territory was a part of the pre-partitioned British India and has a long history of settlement and civilization including the Indus Valley Civilization. Most of its current territory was conquered in the 1st millennium BCE by Persians and Greeks and ruled by them for a few centuries. For the rest of history the region was part of a larger Indian kingdom or under local or regional rulers. Later arrivals and conquests include those by the Arabs, Afghans, Turks, Baloch and Mongols. The territory was incorporated into the British India in the nineteenth century. Since its independence, the country has experienced both periods of significant military and economic growth, and periods of instability, with the secession of East Pakistan (present-day Bangladesh). It has 4 provinces Sindh, Punjab, NWFP and Balouchistan. The major cities are Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Rawalpindhi, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan. Pakistani also resides in many famous cities of the world like London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sarjah, Muscat, Jeddah ...
