The series revolves around the brilliant, yet ruthless lawyer, Patty Hewes (Glenn Close), her protégée, Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne), and the law firm, Hewes & Associates (located in New York City). The first season centers on Hewes attempting to win a class-action lawsuit against the corrupt former CEO of a corporation (Ted Danson) on behalf of his former workers. The second season revolves around Patty's relationship with a man from her past (William Hurt) and a new cutthroat case against a big energy company, with Ellen seeking revenge against Patty for events in the first season. In the third season, Ellen has left Hewes and Associates and works parallel to Patty who has been appointed by the government to retrieve hidden money from Louis Tobin, who had headed a ponzi-scheme investment company. The fourth season will follow a wrongful death suit over an incident in a war zone in the Middle East. Damages has received critical acclaim and numerous television awards, including a Golden Globe and several Emmys. On July 19, 2010 it was announced that DirecTV had picked up Damages for two more seasons, consisting of 10 episodes each, to air on their The 101 Network. Season 4 of Damages is set to premiere July, 2011 on DirecTV. The show is noted for its plot twists, nonlinear narrative, technical merit, season-long storylines, and the acting ability of its cast. |
