Devonport, Tasmania Video

The sign outside Les Sims workshop reads "Wooden Boat Building, Visitors Welcome" he's a passionate wooden boat restorer and this episode he shows you a Coota Boat hes halfway through restoring. Les is a down to earth character who welcomes you into his workshop and shows you round the boats he loves, so if youre passing through Devonport, Tasmania and you happen to see his sign out, head on in for a yarn. "I am experiencing difficulties in uploading my entry onto the ABC's Fanging it website so rather than have nothing come of my weekends work I have uplloaded it here and hope the ABC will view it and hopefully give me some useful feedback."

This is what I walked in on on the 18th of December this year as I came in the back of the pub. I have no idea who these people are or what they were doing but it was very funny. Normally there is NO-ONE in this place on a Tuesday night. Enjoy

Driving onto Spirit of Tasmania II at Station Pier Port Melbourne via the upper vehicle ramp onto the upper/upper vehicle deck, before departing Station Pier and reversing past the MV Nautica. The ship turns with the assistance of the bow thrusters, before sailing down Port Phillip Bay and out through Port Phillip Heads passing Point Lonsdale lighthouse and into Bass Strait. Two ships passed in the bay sailing to Melbourne were the 'Diamond Champ' and the 'Wallenius Wilhelmsen' while the melbourne bound 'Spirit of Tasmania I' is passed well out into Bass Strait. We eventually sail into the Mersey River at Devonport and berth at the special drive on drive off terminal before driving off the Spirit of Tasmania II and into Tasmania. These video shots were taken with a small pocket size Sony cyber shot camera on a daylight crossing of Bass Strait on February 4th 2010.
