The A Day at the Races Tour was a concert tour by the British rock band Queen, and supported their late 1976 album A Day at the Races.

This tour was the first to use the song Somebody to Love and many others. Plus Brighton Rock and Bohemian Rhapsody were performed in full for the first time. Also, singer Freddie Mercury would perform a vocal canon to segue between "White Man" and "The Prophet's Song".

The opening act on most of the North American leg was Thin Lizzy. In New York City, the concert at Madison Square Garden was sold out within moments of tickets going on sale.

The final two shows on the tour at Earls Court was filmed and is widely traded among fans. These shows were of note as the band used an expensive lighting rig in the shape of a crown for the very first time. Both shows were also officially recorded on video and the first show was also released on many bootlegs in almost excellent quality. Both gigs included a Rock'n'Roll Medley (this medley is also the only bootleg recording from the second night).

A Day at the Races Tour Video

A 8mm video shot by Dan Cuny shows Queen performing in San Francisco March 6th, 1977 on the A Day at the Races tour. For 8mm, this is great quality and the footage was shot very close to the stage. The songs shot were the A Day At The Races overture, Tie Your Mother Down, Liar, In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited. According to Freddie, he lost his voice during this gig and you could really tell he threw it out by liar. To be honest, I never understood why Freddie was in such weak voice during the Races North American tour. But don't worry, this is still a great performance and Tie Your Mother Down is a great one. This excellent quality video was shot by Dan Cuny who has uploaded the songs in separate videos on his channel.

Here's the second request from MrManuelalejandro96! Complied from a TV documentary, and an additional video source, we have a few songs from the second night at Earls Court (and the last gig on the tour)! Since there's so few songs on this recording, I can't be the judge of if this gig was great or not--so I'll take a guess: This gig had to have been epic! Going off the available audio, Freddie sounds like he's in good voice tonight--and the rest of band are enjoying the evening! ENJOY!!! www.youtube.com Here's a high-quality audio of the '39 from this gig. Thank thebiggestqueenfan for the bonus track!

As per request by the birthday boy (MrManuelalejandro96--just turned 15!), Gregsynthbootlegs shall upload both recordings from Queen's two Earl's Court gigs! Along with Hammersmith 1975, Hyde Park 1976, Houston 1977, and Hammersmith 1979, this is one of Queen's most popular concerts--and among some of the most bootlegged! The audio is taken from a VHS tape called "The Miracle Express." The quality is excellent, and it is complete! There are a few moments where the band sound nervous (the "hometown crowd" syndrome), but compared to gigs like Hammersmith 1975 and Hyde Park 1976, it's not that noticeable. Overall, there is a very positive atmosphere during this gig, and Freddie clearly enjoys the performance (he's very talkative and playful with the crowd). Freddie's voice is in pretty good shape overall, but he has some trouble with his higher register from time to time ("Death On Two Legs" is an example). Despite that, he sings an excellent version of "Somebody To Love" (with an awesome vocal solo), and delivers great versions of "Killer Queen," "Keep Yourself Alive," and "Liar." Brian's guitar solo is also wonderful (some say it's among his best--if not the best)! ENJOY!!! Note: Overgrown SCHOOL-boy!!! Note 2: Doesn't Freddie look absolutely stunning? :)

All right, did you guys enjoy Sao Paulo 1981? Hell, I sure did! Lets move on to the remaining concerts from the 70s (there's just 4 more recordings I need to upload from this tour--then everything from the 70s will be up)! Despite being very incomplete (half the concert is missing), this recording showcases how great Queen are as a live band! Every song sounds very powerful, energetic, and the crowd is wonderful (they love Freddie's vocal improv during the "White Man" section)! The quality is very good (though a bit bass-heavy), which helps matters! Freddie's voice is in decent shape, and gets a few of the higher notes here and there! ENJOY!!! Note: Although Freddie's voice isn't quite as good as it would be on future legs, I really adore his singing during the "White Man" section! Note 2: This is a great show--but what's not great is "The Millionaire Waltz." It's probably the worst version ever--and you can thank Dr. Brian May for making up notes throughout the song!

If you guys enjoyed College Park, you'll certainly enjoy this concert! This is Queen's first concert at the legendary Madison Square Garden arena, and combined with the great crowd, make this a great 1st concert at the arena! The quality is pretty good (considering that this was recorded in the nosebleed section), and it's around 85% complete (the intro, "Tie Your Mother Down," and parts of "Ogre Battle" are missing--as well as several small cuts throughout the recording). Freddie's voice is in pretty good shape, and he sings a great version of "Somebody To Love." The rest of the band are in fine form tonight (no doubt that the crowd helps out as well), and deliver an excellent show! ENJOY!!! Note: Brian May's parents were in the audience at this concert (their first concert outside of the United Kingdom)!
