Henry Fool is one of the most unique, original, and sophisticated films to be made in the last 30 years. It dares to explore the creative process, friendship, loyalty, wit, lust, subversion, faith, ego, fear, trends and social taboos in an articulate and unprecidented way. When Hal Hartley ushered in his 1998 masterpiece, his voice was finally one to be reckoned with. Henry Fool himself, a staggeringly great performance by Thomas Jay Ryan, left an indelable mark on the veiwer, as did all the other memorable characters. The film quickly developed a cult following among actors, writers and independent filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts everywhere. So, when Hal produced "Fay Grim" in 2007, a highly anticipated sequel to Henry Fool, his loyal fanbase was elated... ...But- many were very disapointed to see the sequel to such an original film take the form of a standard spy thriller movie. Here, MisterEsoteric, on a stroll through Battery Park in Manhattan, challenges his idol Hal as to WHY he betrayed his fans and followed HF with something so pedestrian. Not that Fay Grim was awful...Indeed, it has a lot of great moments, and it is truly wonderful to see all the old gang from Henry Fool Land again, Especially Parker Posey, who carries the whole movie herself quite competently. -But, what bothers MisterEsoteric (and most of Hal Hartley's rabid HF fans) as a whole, is that the film re-imagines the original premise of Henry being the ultimate Bullshit artist and re-invents him as ...

The Ohio State Buckeyes have lost five main contributors on their team for the first five games of the 2011 season. After the NCAA ruled that five members of the Ohio State University football team must sit out the first five games of the 2011 season because they received improper benefits for selling awards, gifts and university apparel. Terrelle Pryor, Mike Adams, Daniel Herron, Devier Posey, and Solomon Thomas must also repay money and benefits ranging from $1000 to $2500. The money must be repaid to a charity, the NCAA ruled. Jordan Whiting must sit out the first game next year and pay $150 to a charity for the value of services that were discounted because of his status as a student-athlete. All of the players will be eligible to play Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 4. What started out as a trip to a Columbus tattoo parlor by a couple of football players has created all sorts of mayhem for Pryor and Ohio State. The five also received improper benefits -- from up to two years ago -- from the tattoo parlor and its owner. "I learned more about tattoos than I ever really want to possibly know," athletic director Gene Smith said. "As a student-athlete, you're not allowed to use your persona to get discounted services." Ohio State's first five games next season are against Akron, Toledo, Miami, Colorado and Michigan State. Ohio State plans to appeal, hoping the number of games might be reduced. On Wednesday night, WBNS-TV and The Columbus Dispatch, both citing ...

On Twitter: @longisland495 Tressel Fesses Up! Or is it "Vests's Up"? Ok, that was horrible. As opposed to the earlier suspension that was imposed by The Ohio State University on Jim Tressel of 2 games, Tressel has decided to impose a suspension ON HIMSELF of 5 games for his role in an improper benefits scandal revolving around Terrelle Pryor and a few other football players for the Buckeyes. Of course, we know the Cliffs Notes of the scandal by now. Pryor, offensive lineman Mike Adams, running back Boom Herron, wide receiver DeVier Posey, and defensive lineman Solomon Thomas have all been found to be selling memorabilia, valuables, trophies, jerseys, etc. from OSU in exchange for tattoos and money under the table. They were accpeting the greenbacks from Edward Rife, a tattoo parlor owner in the Columbus area who is under investigation by the FBI for drug trafficking. This is where the adage "The Cover-Up is Worse Than the Crime" comes into play. The biggest part of the scandal is the fact that coach Jim Tressel knew every nook and cranny about the scandal and didn't say a word to either AD Gene Smith or university president Gordon Gee. The reason for that is obvious...Tressel didn't want to risk having OSU's spot in the Sugar Bowl stripped away from them by the NCAA or Big Ten. Media outlets including WCMH-TV 4 in Columbus got their hands on emails detailing Tressel's contact with Doug Archer, a lawyer. The emails were basically the smoking gun on the probe into whether ...
