Interiores do castelo.

Holographic 3D theatre in Japan - Okazaki Castle Museum - Meiji Period - Japanese History Okazaki Castle (岡å´å, Okazaki-jÅ?), although not the same castle as was originally built, nor in the same place, nevertheless has a long history dating back to 1455, when it was built by warrior Saigo Tsugiyori. Recent research suggests that the original castle was built in the Myodaiji (æ大寺) area of Okazaki, and was probably nothing more than a mere wooden fort. Matsudaira Kiyoyasu captured the castle in 1524, and in 1543 his grandson, Tokugawa Ieyasu, would be born there. The castle stood tall until 1873 when, during the Meiji Restoration, the feudal system was abolished and all castle-buildings were ordered demolished. Okazaki Castle was reconstructed to its original style and specifications in 1959. The area around the castle is now a park, and boasts several historical curiosities, including a bronze statue of Tokugawa Ieyasu. The park is also home to the Iyeyasu and Mikawa Bushi Museum, teahouses, a Noh theater, a small clock tower with traditional karakuri puppets, and an impressive main gate. The park is also renowned as a famous site for viewing cherry blossoms, wisterias and azaleas ...

CHEN: Japan's also having problems with overflowing water. Flooding west of Tokyo has forced thousands of people from their homes. STORY: An elderly man is rescued from his flooded home in the Japanese town of Aichi. Waist high waters swept through vast areas of central Japan after days of heavy rain. A 76-year-old woman was found dead in her flooded home in Okazaki. 140,00 people have been ordered to leave their homes in the town, along with 360000 households in nearby Nagoya. One of those forced out nearly lost his dog after he was swept away in the floods. "It's all messed up. It's always like this when it rains even for a short time." A mudslide derailed a train on the outskirts of Tokyo. Luckily the driver was the only person on board and he escaped injury. Japan has suffered repeated flooding in recent months and there may be more to come. While some areas are attempting to clear up, the government weather agency is warning there's more rain on the way. And it seems it's not just people who need to take care.

JAPAN GUIDE: OKAZAKI FIREWORKS Between 7 and 9.30 pm on Saturday last weekend, 20000 fireworks (Hana-bi, or flower-fire) were fired over Okazaki from two sites, one in front of the castle and one a little further away on Yahagi-gawa. Two sites are used so that the larger fireworks fired from Yahagi-gawa do not break the windows of buildings - some measure over 30 cm across, and could break windowpanes at a few hundred meters. The fireworks are also a fair indication of the local and national economy - the more there are, the better things are going. The fireworks are the final night of a three-day festival, starting with Bon-odori (dancing), then with the Mikoshi on Friday, and finishing with fireworks on Saturday. The entire Obon festival is a celebration of the dead - the time when ancestors return home. A good celebration is crucial to getting them to go away again afterwards. Okazaki is famous for fireworks, perhaps the most famous in Japan. Back in the 1600s, when the Tokugawa Shogunate was established, the stronghold of the family ...
