The Kishiwada Danjiri Festival, held in Kishiwada, Osaka, is one of the very dangerous with most famous Danjiri Matsuri in Japan. The Danjiri Matsuri, (float festival) is said to have its origin in the Inari Matsuri held in the 16th year of the Genroku era(1703). With 300 years of tradition and all of Kishiwada behind it, the Kishiwada Danjiri Matsuri is proudly held in September each year. From 2006, Kishiwada Danjiri Matsuri is held on the Saturday and Sunday before Respect for the Aged Day. The Danjiri corner turning mightily in the intersection. Working both front and rear levers in unison, Danjiri teams literally skid their heavy Danjiris around each street corner. Done quickly to the beat of drums and shouts of the pulling team, corner turning is one of the most dramatic elements of the festival. I like this festival so much! ^^ One of Japan's most famous and exciting danjiri(float) festival was held in Kishiwada, Osaka Prefecture on mid-Sptember again this year. The festival is said to date from the early 1700s when a local lord held a festival to pray for a good harvest. and the festival usually attracts about 600 thousand local and overseas visitors. Each float is 4 meters high, and weighs 4 tons. In the festival, danjiri(floats) are pulled around the city at terrific speed by several teams of men. and the highlight of the festival is the "Yarimawashi" (corner turning). Done quickly to the beat of drums and shouts of the pulling team, corner turning is one of the most dramatic elements of the festival. In the evening, each float is spectacular decorated with around 200 lanterns, and the floats look more elegant.^^ If and when you have a chance to visit Osaka on September, Really must see the Kishiwada danjiri festival. I think you'll enjoy it!! and I'm sure that you'll have a good time.^^
