The New York Jets are a professional American football team headquartered in Florham Park, New Jersey, representing the New York metropolitan area. The team is a member of the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). In a unique arrangement for the league, the Jets share MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey with the New York Giants. The franchise is legally and corporately registered as New York Jets, LLC.

The team was founded in 1959 as the Titans of New York, an original member of the American Football League; later, the franchise joined the NFL in the merger of the AFL and the NFL. The team began play in 1960 at the Polo Grounds. Under new ownership, the current name was adopted in 1963 and the franchise was relocated to Shea Stadium in 1964 and then to the Meadowlands Sports Complex in 1984. The Jets advanced to the playoffs for the first time in 1968 and went on to compete in Super Bowl III where they defeated the Baltimore Colts, becoming the first AFL team to defeat an NFL club in a AFL-NFL World Championship Game. Since 1968, the Jets have appeared in the playoffs thirteen times, and in the AFC Championship Game four times, most recently losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011.

The team headquarters and training facility, Atlantic Health Jets Training Center, which opened in 2008, is located in Florham Park. The team currently holds their annual training camp sessions on the campus of the State University of New York at Cortland (SUNY Cortland) in Cortland, New York while holding occasional sessions at the Florham Park complex.

The large plane is the military version of the 747. NEW YORK (WABC) -- A photo shoot involving an Air Force aircraft and two fighter jets led to hundreds of frightened calls from residents and workers in Lower Manhattan Monday. The Defense Department conducted the photo opportunity, which involved two F-16s escorting the plane, a Boeing 747, over Battery Park City and up the Hudson River. "In coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Presidential Airlift Group conducted a aerial photo mission in the New York City area on 27 Apr 2009. This mission, involving the VC-25 and an F-16, was conducted in conjunction with normally scheduled continuation training for assigned aircrew members. This mission was coordinated for the Upper New York Bay, south of the Holland Tunnel and in the Newark Bay north of the Staten Island Expressway between the hours of 1000L and 1030L." The maneuver, part of a photo op, was coordinated in advance with the FAA and state and local officials. The Defense Department "coordinated the flight with FAA," Peters said, "and we made the notifications to the city of New York, as well as the 311 and 911 centers, the NYPD, New Jersey State Police and various operations centers in the New York area." City officials were notified, but not the ...

www.jaybartels.com Dolphins cornerback Nolan Carroll was tripped by the New York Jets' strength and conditioning coach on the sideline while covering a punt in the third quarter of Miami's 10-6 victory Sunday. The rookie fell to the turf while running down the sideline, and the Jets' Sal Alosi later admitted he interfered with Carroll. "I made a mistake that showed a total lapse in judgment," Alosi said in a statement released by the Jets about 2 1 hours after the game. "My conduct was inexcusable and unsportsmanlike and does not reflect what this organization stands for." Ryan considered benching Sanchez New York Jets coach Rex Ryan said he considered benching quarterback Mark Sanchez in the third quarter of Sunday's 10-6 loss to the Miami Dolphins. More ... Carroll, who had an interception in the first quarter to set up a field goal, lay on the field for several minutes before walking off. He got back into the game in the fourth period. Carroll said he was not angry about the incident. "We got a W. That's not my problem," Carroll said. "That's the Jets' problem. We just move on. I felt contact, but I've got to watch film. I can't comment on it right now." Other Dolphins players weren't quite as reserved. "That is so dirty," Dolphins linebacker Karlos Dansby told the Sun-Sentinel after seeing a snapshot of the incident. "Come on man. That's dirty! It all trickles down hill. Their head coach opened a can of worms over there, and now he's got to fix it. It's sad. There's ...
