The NZR DA class was a class of diesel-electric mainline locomotives that ran on the New Zealand national railways system between 1955 and 1989. With a total of 146 locomotives, the DA class was the most numerous class of locomotives to operate in New Zealand, just five ahead of the AB class steam locomotives.

The class were A1A-A1A versions of the Electro-Motive Diesel G12 model, altered slightly to fit New Zealand's 1067al=onlk=on rail system, and New Zealand's small loading gauge. The locomotives were introduced between 1955 and 1967, and was the first class of diesel locomotives to seriously displace steam traction.

Between 1978 and 1983, eighty-five locomotives were rebuilt as the DC class, which many of are still in use today. All but one of the remaining locomotives were withdrawn by 1989, with six locomotives preserved. The last locomotive was refitted for shunting duties, and now exists as DAR 517.
