Blair Lekstrom is a Canadian politician, currently a member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. He has represented the riding of Peace River South since the 2001 election.

He formerly served as the Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Products in the government of Gordon Campbell, before resigning from the BC Liberal caucus over the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) on June 11, 2010, a policy that Lekstrom had previously endorsed. Following the election of Christy Clark as the party's new leader in the 2011 leadership election, Lekstrom rejoined the Liberals on March 3, 2011.

He was born in 1961 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan and moved to Dawson Creek, British Columbia later that year. He graduated from the South Peace Secondary School, and worked with BC Tel starting in 1979 as an installer-repairman until his election in 1996.

Prior to provincial politics, he served as mayor of Dawson Creek for two terms, and was a city councillor for three years prior. Lekstrom was the president of the North Central Municipal Association for the 1999-2000 term.

For the first time in his leadership, Premier Gordon Campbell has lost a member of his trusted inner circle in a very public spat. Energy and Mines Minister, Blair Lekstrom, has quit the cabinet and walked away from the BC Liberal party because he says Campbell is making a terrible mistake by ramming through the HST.

Legislative committee spends first meeting haggling over process Victoria -- It was billed as a historic day for democracy. In the end the history barely lasted an hour, taking just 15 minutes to hit the first speed bump. The mission was clear for the NDP members of the select standing committee on legislative initiatives: take that anti-HST petition - signed by more than 700000 people - and the scrap the tax legislation that came with it, and send it to the BC Legislature for an on-the-record vote by MLAs. But the committee's liberal majority voted that down, seeking answers instead about a province-wide, non-binding referendum. Watching the process: Blair Lekstrom, the man who fell out with Premier Gordon Campbell and his party so publicly when he quit cabinet in June. Today Lekstrom repeated his calls for the premier to move on and find new work. Campbell, resurfacing after a summer holiday in Europe, says he's "revitalized", and not only his he sticking around, he plans to stay for a long time. For now, he's got the support of his ministers, whether that support will hold may depend what the committee decides to do.
