Katy Abram, who told Sen. Arlen Specter "you have awakened the sleeping giant" at a town hall meeting in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, tells Sean Hannity she's "proud of what I said, because it's from my heart." She adds that, later in the day, people have allegedly called her on her cell phone following her appearance and called her a racist. Katy called them "cowards." She also admits she was a reformed Democrat who regrets voting for Bill Clinton - twice - and assures that she was "not bused in... I'm a normal person" who wanted to voice her opinion at Sen. Specter's town hall meeting.

Located on the border of Lancaster and Lebanon counties on the Middle Creek Wildlife Preserve in Pennsylvania, I watched tens of thousands of snow geese as they stopped for a break along their migratory route. It was a relaxing and beautiful scene and I wanted to share it. Snow Geese breed in the Arctic Tundra and winter in farmlands, lakes and coastal areas in the American south, southwest and east coast. These attractive geese occur only in North America, and make an annual round trip journey of more than 5000 miles at speeds of 50 mph or more. If you'd like to learn more about the habits of the beautiful snow geese, visit your local library!

This is a commemorative video of Mt. Lebanon's 30th High School Reunion of the class of 1978. This event took place at PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Our reunion also occurred on the same night of the 250th birthday celebration of the city of Pittsburgh, and we found ourselves right in the middle of one of the largest fireworks displays in the history of the United States. In fact, the display set a world record for the highest number of discrete launching sites. The video was shot on my recently purchased Canon Vixia HV30 HD camcorder. I have been very happy with the performance of this unit. My decision to stick with a tape-based camcorder (Mini-DV) rather than purchasing the newer generation of solid state memory (HDD, Flash, etc) camcorders revolved around my concerns for quality over convenience. This camcorder uses the HDV compression scheme which is a tried and true, mature codec, that has a solid reputation for high quality recordings with minimal compression artifacts. The downside to this approach is these camcorders have a maximum resolution of 1440x1080 (using rectangular pixels) versus the true HD spec of 1920x1080. The solid state camcorders do achieve the full 1920x1080, but to achieve that, they are using a newer, more aggressive compression scheme called AVCHD. This codec has proven less than stellar, and many reports abound regarding some problems with quality, especially surrounding motion artifacts. So the trade off here is slightly lower ...

2009 Virtual Tour of the Bordner Cabin in Swatara State Park on Old State Road, 2.7 miles NE of the Appalachian Trail Bridge. A self-guided tour includes interior signage and pictures of Armar Bordner as well as pictures of the rooms as they were furnished during his tenure at the Cabin. In rustic lodge style architecture created by the National Parks Services and built between 1916 - 1942, the interlocking hand-hewn logs form both the exterior and interior walls of the building. The porch railing is a geometric lace of branches. The basement walls and fireplace were crafted from stone found on the site. The property was originally owned by Union Canal Engineer Benjamin Aycrigg. Armar Bordner purchased the property, and built the Cabin by Aycrigg's Falls on Rattling Run. As part of Project 70, which sought to place a state park within 25 miles of every citizen, the State of PA initiated eminent domain proceedings on all properties within the boundary of Swatara State Park. Armar fought the eminent domain proceeding, and won a lease to live in the Cabin that he built until his death. The Swatara Watershed Association, a 501c3 nonprofit, learned of plans to demolish the Cabin. After a site visit, SWA, the current occupants, successfully petitioned the State for a 10-year lease, which started in 2006. SWA believes the Bordner Cabin should be shared with the community, and has a vision of operating the facility as an open-air pavilion for artists to paint, photographers to ...
