Hattem received city rights in 1299, one year before Amsterdam. Hattem, bordering the forests of ‘De Veluwe’ and along the IJssel river has much to offer: cosy terraces, interesting museums, a large variety of authentic shops an annually returning events. Hattem is a city where many elements of the medieval town returned. Hattem celebrates each year De dikke tinne festival in a medieval atmosphere. The municipality includes the hamlet of 't Zand.
