The Basque Country football team (officially, in Basque, Euskal Herriko futbol selekzioa) could be considered as the official regional football team of the Euskadi Autonomous Region, located in Spain because is the Association of football of this region, which organises the matches; but also as the national team of the Euskal Herria because there have been selected players from Euskadi, Navarre and from Northern Basque Country. They are not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA and are therefore allowed to play just friendly matches. The team is referred to by various names including the Euskal Herriko Selekzioa, Selección de Euskadi, Euskal Selekzioa, Euskadi XI and Basque XI. The team was named Euskadiko Selekzioa until 2007, when it changed its name to Euskal Herriko Selekzioa.
