The Nigeria national football team, nicknamed the Super Eagles, is the national team of Nigeria and is controlled by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). The team has ranked as high as 5th in the FIFA World Rankings, in April 1994. They won a gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics and the Africa Cup of Nations on two occasions, and have reached the World Cup finals four times. As of 4 October 2010, the Nigerian National Football team has been banned from international football indefinitely due to government interference (fraud). The ban has been 'provisionally lifted' until the 26 October, the day after the National Association of Nigerian Footballers is expected to drop its court case against the NFF.
