The Bulgaria national football team ( , ) represents Bulgaria in association football and is controlled by the Bulgarian Football Union, the governing body for football in Bulgaria. Bulgaria's home ground is Vasil Levski in Sofia and their head coach is Lothar Matthäus. Bulgaria's best World Cup performance was in the 1994 World Cup in the United States, where they beat defending champions Germany to reach the semi-finals, losing to Italy, and finishing in fourth place after being defeated by Sweden in the third place play-off.
