Apple announced MobileMe at WWDC in 2008, noting that much of it was built using SproutCore. Apple has contributed greatly to the project as part of a Web 2.0 initiative. SproutCore is also used at iWork.com, the online extension of the iWork productivity software by Apple. The latest major stable SproutCore release is 1.4, which contains significant improvements from version 1.0 (1.1 - 1.3 were not publicly released), including touch support for mobile devices. It was released on September 20th, 2010. 1.4.4 is the latest minor stable release and the version of record; it contains numerous bug fixes and support for custom MIME types, deep copy and enabling Chrome Frame. It was released on November 12 . In June 2010, the creator of SproutCore left Apple to start Strobe Inc., which will provide SproutCore support and continue development. |
