Military of Latvia Video

This is an educational and historical video * www.white-history.com 60 PERCENT OF THE WAFFEN SS WERE NON-GERMANS The Waffen-SS was also the foremost indicator of the popularity of Nazism beyond the borders of Germany: it is a little known fact that of the one million men who served in the Waffen-SS during the course of the war, 60 per cent - 600000 men - were volunteers from countries outside of Germany. Ethnic Germans were in fact a minority of the Waffen-SS, a fact often forgotten. Non-German volunteers came from the Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, France, Denmark, Norway, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the Ukraine, Byelorussia, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Yugoslavia and even a very small group of British volunteers, known as the Legion of St. George. The foreign Waffen-SS units were all deployed on the Eastern Front for two reasons: firstly they had specifically volunteered to fight Communism; and secondly so that they would never be asked to fight fellow countrymen in their native countries. All but a few thousand of the 20000 French Waffen-SS volunteers, organized into a division called Legion Charlemagne, were killed in the Battle of Berlin in 1945. The Waffen SS also recruited heavily amongst Russians, Ukrainians, Cossacks, Latvians, Lithuanians and Estonians. The festival is to honor the September 21, 1236 Battle of Saule, where the Livonian Brothers of the Sword suffered defeat. The Battle of Saule (German: Schlacht von Schaulen; Latvian: Saules kauja; Lithuanian: SaulÄs mÅ«Å¡is or Å iaulių mÅ«Å¡is) was fought on September 22, 1236 between the Livonian Brothers of the Sword and pagan Semigallians, Lithuanians and Samogitians. Some 50 to 60 knights were killed, including the Livonian Master, Volkwin; it was the earliest large-scale defeat suffered by the orders in Baltic lands. The Sword-Brothers, the first Catholic military order established in the Baltic lands, was soundly defeated and its remnants accepted incorporation into the Teutonic Order in 1237. The battle inspired Curonians, Semigallians, and Selonians, Baltic tribes previously conquered by the Sword-Brothers, to rebel. Some thirty years' worth of conquests on the left bank of Daugava was lost.
