David Luechtefeld is a Republican member of the Illinois Senate, representing the 58th district since 1995 and serving as the Assistant Minority Leader.

Luechtefeld has fought to bring more jobs to Southern Illinois and keep neighborhoods safe by pushing tough crime legislation; Worked to provide children with a quality education by ensuring schools are adequately funded; Sponsored the historic education funding reform law; Sponsored comprehensive legislation to revitalize Illinois’ coal industry. He has been a lead sponsor of medical malpractice reform legislation.
