8.40 min. | 3.0 user rating		 A clip of APBA powerboat racing at Lake Andrea, Pleasant Prairie, WI. My camera can record HD720, but when in video mode it doesn't have auto-focus. That's just how Nikon made the D5000. (I think they fixed that with the D5100, but I'm not 100% sure.) I do my best to keep it clear, considering I had to use an LCD with glare on it in order to compose the shot. These races are neat, because you can get close enough to smell the 2-cycle outboard fuel. This vantage was a little further out, but a had a better view of the action. (Nobody standing up in the way, etc.) From what I understand, they only race the boats on Lake Andrea two times a year. And these racing events are the only time they allow powerboats on the lake. (I suppose you could use an electric trolling motor, but it's nothing that could get a boat moving. Outside of these events, the fastest thing allowed on the lake are wind-surfers.) The rest of the racing events are elsewhere. The weather today wasn't the worlds best, but it wasn't awful either. Still there was enough threat of rain where I decided to pull my gear and pack up early. I did get a couple of nice photos, but who wants to see a cropped and scaled down slide-show on YouTube? I'll probably put them on Picasa or elsewhere on the web. Now I'm not quite a professional here, so my tripod doesn't have a smooth pivot bearing or anything of that sort. Like my camera, it's more suited to photography than video.
