'MTA Long Island Bus' is the name used by MTA Regional Bus for its bus network serving primarily Nassau County. It also serves parts of western Suffolk County as well as parts of Queens. Long Island Bus is the trading name of Metropolitan Suburban Bus Authority, a name which has not been used publicly since 1995, and which is now a unit of Regional Bus as noted above.

Long Island Bus Video

The video about this accident as been around for 3 years now, however, most of the video uploaded on youtube doesn't give any info to the viewer. So here's a more exhaustive reportage about this accident. This accident happened on 17th Mar 2006 on the Long Island Expressway (I-495), New York. A camera mounted inside a passenger bus was rolling as the driver of an 18-wheeler lost control, and the vehicle veered into the express lane on the far left side of the road. In an instant, an Audi TT car smashed into the tractor-trailer, and a bus hit the car. When the chaos settled, the mangled Audi was crushed under the truck and against the concrete median. Miraculously, the driver survived, and was reported to be alert and moving his limbs when he was taken to a hospital. He was listed in stable condition. Eight people were hurt on the bus. The tractor-trailer's driver was cited for, among other things, bald tires and driving a truck 16000 pounds overweight.

Orion 05.501 CNG #115 was on the N22 taking off from 169th St (Homelawn St) and Hillside Av and head towards the Jamaica Bus Terminal in Jamaica, Queens. This is one of the oldest bus in the fleet BUT it does sound great on take-off!!! I had the pleasure of riding Orion 05.501 CNG #116 on the N15 to West Hempstead LIRR Station last November (2007). These buses are worth riding. Enjoy! NOTE: As of June 2009, this bus along with several others have been retired! So if you have not ridden one of those buses...oh well!

One of LIB's old retired workhorses. This bus features the Detroit Diesel 92 series 6V92TA engine with an Allison HTB-748 transmission. Even though the decision was made years ago to convert the entire fleet to CNG, I still believe that when the MTA Bus company took the wheel that they should've kept some of these. ***NOTE*** This recording is owned by Trevor Logan, Jr., and is from his transit media page, WWW.TTMG.ORG. NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED. As for the photo, idk where it came from my cousin downloaded it!

Orion 05.501 CNG #1446 (ex-#183) was on the N6 heading towards Hempstead Bus Terminal in Hempstead, Long Island. Oh and by the way, I will be seeing Long Island Orion 05.501 CNG #183 again later on in the day. I also have a video of that bus on another route. You'll see it soon. Now in this sequence you have multiple buses...such as, Orion 07.501 Low Floor Hybrid #6431 was on the Q43, NovaBus RTS-06 #8958 was on the Q17 and as NovaBus RTS-06 #8958 passes by, catch a QUICK glimpse of Orion 05.501 #666 turning up Homelawn St as it was on the Q31. Whew! You guys get that? I hope so because I'm not explaining it again.
