Prior to 2008, the top level of professional football competition in Indonesia was the Premier Division (in Indonesian: Divisi Utama), which is relegated to second tier afterwards. According to the AFC Final Assessment Ranking for 2009 οΏ½ 2010 seasons (in which professional football leagues in Asia were ranked with respect to competitiveness, professionalism, marketability, and financial status of the league and its clubs - to determine the number of spots in the AFC Champions League), the Indonesia Super League was ranked 8th, the best in Southeast Asia. |
