This is a brief video of the inside of the entrance to the Wyoming State Capitol, in Cheyenne. The dark wood gave it a different feel than the South Dakota Capitol I had visited the previous week. Being from Illinois, I liked the large Lincoln bust down the hall. June 2009.

Entry from: Kearney, United States Entry Title: "Western Poineer trails" Entry: "Left Denver in the morning and headed to Cheyenne WY and saw the state capitol. Quite a bit fancier than the NV capitol. From there headed to Nebraska using state highways. Went to Scottsbluff and Chimney rock. These were markers for western settlers following the Oregon, Mormon, California trails as well as the Pony Express. At Scottsbluff the wagon trains had to go single file and left large ruts in the ground still visible today. Chimney rock was a unique looking landmark that indicated that the journey was about 1/3 over. -- See Nebraska isn't completely flat. At Chimney Rock, my powers as a rain god increased to include hail. While inside the visitor center a thunder storm came through dropping pea sized hail for about 20 minutes. From Chimney Rock I went up to Carhenge in Alliance NE. This is a replica of Stonehenge but it is made of cars, to the correct dimensions of Stonehenge. Kind of tacky but definitely an icon of western Nebraska. After Carhenge I continued east, again getting more rain, and spent the night in Kearney NE."
