Green River is a city in and the county seat of Sweetwater County, Wyoming, United States, in the southwestern part of the state. The population was 11,808 at the 2000 census.

The city is known as being one of the first in the United States to ban door-to-door solicitation; see Green River Ordinance.

The Mayor of Green River is Henry Castillon, who was elected in November 2006 and won re-election in 2010.

It is incredible on top of the mountain. It is a place where the wind talks and the earth grounds your very being. I truly had an awakening of the spirit that day with the wild mustangs. I've been around horses all my life, but that day was truly an experience I will never forget. 3.07 min. | 4.9 user rating		 This happened on the afternoon of October 13, 2010 at about 3:30 PM. A second smaller slide occurred at 4 PM. Ubstu-Reports was on the scene. There was a three car accident caused by the blinding dust from the rock fall, and multiple people were injured. Two persons were cited for going too fast. Luckily, nobody was fatally injured. Two passenger vehicles and a semi trailer were involved. Westbound lanes of Interstate 80 were closed for at least two hours while the slide and scene was cleaned up. A thick layer of dust caked the ground and surroundings of the spill, and minor slides continue to occur as of this video's upload. The minivan vehicle was carrying an airplane fuselage, and that is the wreckage you see strewn about and on top of the truck. See also: trib.com
