Outside some shops there are Lloyds TSB cash machines. Shoprite currently owns 16 stores in all the major settlements on the Island. five in Douglas, two in Peel, two in Ramsey and three in Port Erin (although the one store is under the name of Guiltless Gourmet), two in Onchan and Castletown. One store both in Port Erin and Douglas operate in another name than shoprite brand . Shoprite is the only store on the Isle of Man to be contracted with Iceland, Subway and Wilkinson (Shoprite Living). The chain is not related to similarly-named chains in the US or South Africa. Until the 1990s there were "Shoprite" supermarkets in the U.K. which were taken over by and rebranded as Kwik Save, itself now a defunct chain having been taken over by Somerfield. Somerfield, in turn has now been taken over by The Co-operative Group, and all of its stores will be converted to The Co-operative Food branding within the next couple of years. |
