Royal College of Art Video

An old film from college: Slap is one in a series of shorts based on cinematic language being use to take things out of context. The argument in rapidly cut so that no subject matter is heard. It builds up to a slap in the face. Although this is the most violent and impulsive gesture of this piece, the act of slowing it down so drastically (0.9 seconds slowed to 1.5 minutes) and placing ambient music (with the kind permission of Brian Eno) over the top makes it appear gentle and considered.

My final MA project at the Industrial Design Engineering department, Royal College of Art. (de)light: liquid light (de)light is a project that reinterprets the concept of light as we know it. de)light brings together the archetypical components of light -- lamp and bulb - from an atypical point of view. (de)light is about freeing light from its solid cage and bringing it back to its intangible essence. (de)light is the starting point for a new way of thinking about the everyday objects that surround us. (de)light poses an open question on how (beautiful) things can be. (de)light is about envisioning a more enchanting future -- and making it real.

Interim show of platform12 in the Royal College of Art. Design by ilgu.cha Sometimes, we can remember our memories by traces. I believe that we can come back to the past for a moment through these traces. This clock's basic function is not only to tell the time but also so the user can make a note on the face of the clock, which is made of laminated white board. Also, a hand of the clock erase the written messages automatically by using the eraser which is behind the hand. The analog clock shows remaining time to the appointed time more intuitively compared to a digital clock. That is one of the reason why the analog clock exists until today although the digital clock advents.

www.thecryptsessions.com Marcus Foster is a very talented young man indeed. Still only 24, he's just earned himself a master's degree in sculpture from the Royal College of Art and has already exhibited at the Saatchi gallery with a hot air ballon fashioned from cold steel. Next weekend he's dj-ing on the main stage at the Wilderness festival. And with his nu-folk singer-songwriter's hat on, he's about to release his first album, Nameless Path, on Communion Records. How he had time to come and play for us at The Crypt Sessions is anyone's guess, but we're extremely glad he did. Marcus's big musical break came when Let Me Sign, a song he co-wrote with buddy Bobby Long, was recorded by schoolmate Rob Pattinson for the soundtrack of the first Twilight film. But when you hear him play, it's pretty obvious that Marcus would have risen to the surface anyway. A keen student of Tom Waits and Bob Dylan, he is blessed with an exceptionally soulful voice, a poet's handle on the human condition and a range of musical expression to match - from the galloping Stones bluesiness driving album track Shadow Of The City, to the dusty, spaghetti western sprawl of Circle In The Square. He also has friends in all the right places. But as The Independent said, 'Remarkably talented and excitingly different, Foster shows he's worth the celebrity endorsements. And proves he doesn't need them either.'
