KFSN-TV in Fresno, Ca., opens an "Action News" broadcast during October of 1978 with the launch of Fresno's first public radio station, KVPR-FM -- or, more accurately, the problems the station encountered as it prepared to sign-on for the first time. Robin Fern (later Garrison) is the anchor. At the time this was recorded, KFSN was a CBS affiliate owned by Capital Cities Communications. The "Action News" opening seen here is similar to one used by then-sister stations WTVD in Durham, NC, and WKBW-TV in Buffalo, NY, on their respective "Eyewitness News" programs. In 1985 KFSN and WTVD became ABC owned-and-operated stations after CapCities purchased ABC. Copyright 1978 KFSN-TV/ABC, Inc.

This is a set of four 30-second spots promoting KFSN-TV's (Fresno, Ca.) switch from CBS to ABC in September 1985. These promos were originally on TV-Ark. The first three spots feature KFSN anchors John Wallace, Dan Taylor (sports), and Nancy Osborne, while the fourth promotes a "premiere party" featuring the airing of the "Dynasty" pilot movie, and a locally-produced special. It's probably safe to say KFSN's final CBS broadcast was the Sept. 8, 1985 airing of "60 Minutes". The switch was necessitated when KFSN's parent, Capital Cities Communications, purchased ABC. Fresno's previous ABC affiliate, KJEO-TV (now KGPE) picked up CBS. John Wallace now works at KGPE, while Dan Taylor and Nancy Osborne are still at KFSN. Copyright 1985 KFSN-TV/ABC, Inc.

COALINGA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A California parole board has denied parole for Robert F. Kennedy's convicted assassin, Sirhan Sirhan. The decision came Wednesday after a hearing before a California parole board at Pleasant Valley State Prison in Coalinga. The 66-year-old Sirhan says he doesn't remember shooting Kennedy at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles on June 4, 1968. The Associated Press Contributed to this report. (Copyright ©2011 KFSN-TV/DT. All Rights Reserved.) abclocal.go.com Defense lawyer William Pepper said he became Sirhan's pro bono attorney in the fall of 2007 after he learned of the results of an audio analysis conducted on a sound track of the Kennedy shooting. The audio recording, made 40 feet away from the crime scene by free-lance newspaper reporter Stanislaw Pruszynski, is the only known recording of the gunshots in that June 1968 assassination. Pepper said he believes the Pruszynski recording is evidence showing that there was a second gun firing in addition to Sirhan's Iver-Johnson handgun. The tape was uncovered in 2004 by CNN's Brad Johnson, who had the recording independently examined by two audio analysts, Spence Whitehead in Atlanta, Georgia, and Philip Van Praag in Tucson, Arizona. Johnson reported on their separate findings for CNN's Backstory in June 2009. SEE ENTIRE CNN.COM ARTICLE AT . . . www.cnn.com

You gotta see this! In one deal, WCVB and WVIT switch owners, while in another deal, WHDH and WSVN switch owners with WTVD and KFSN. You think this is an April Fool's joke? Judge for yourself.
