James "Jim" Charles Laker (9 February 1922 - 23 April 1986) was a cricketer who played for England in the 1950s, known for "Laker's match" in 1956 at Old Trafford, when he took nineteen wickets in England's victory against Australia. He played 46 Test matches between 1948 and 1959, taking 193 wickets with a bowling average of 21.24; in all first-class matches he took 1,944 wickets at 18.41.

Born in Frizinghall, Bradford, Yorkshire, he was known as an elegant off-spin bowler. He consistently performed well against Australian cricket teams, and formed a successful partnership with Tony Lock, a left-arm orthodox spinner. He was also part of the Surrey side that dominated the county championship with seven consecutive titles from 1952 to 1958. He was selected as one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1952.

Graeme Peter Swann (born 24 March 1979 in Northampton) is an English international cricketer. He is primarily a right-arm offspinner, and also bats right-handed. After initially playing for his home county Northamptonshire, for whom he made his debut in 1997, he moved to Nottinghamshire in 2005. He often fields at slip. He attended Sponne School in Towcester, Northamptonshire. Swann played a single One Day International against South Africa in 2000, before losing his place in the squad. In 2007, Swann was chosen to accompany England on its tour of Sri Lanka as the team's second spin bowler, alongside Monty Panesar, and subsequently cemented a regular place in England's Test team, playing throughout England's 2--1 victory in the 2009 Ashes. In December 2009, he became the first English spinner to take 50 wickets in a calendar year, culminating in back-to-back man of the match awards in the first two Tests of the South Africa tour and third place in the world rankings for bowlers.[1][2] In March 2010, Swann became the first English off-spinner since Jim Laker to take 10 wickets in a match, when he achieved the feat in England's victory in the first test in Bangladesh. In May, he was named ECB Cricketer of the Year.[3] He ended 2010 as England retained and then won the Ashes series in Australia, as the second highest-ranked bowler in world cricket, and the highest ranked spin bowler

Hello again You Tubers, here is something out of Big Don's very deep vault, be transported back to the year of The Silver Jubilee of 1977 where I was but a lad of fifteen years & domiciled in England's Green & Pleasant Land, The County Of Norfolk to be more precise. A time of disco dancing @ The Teen & 20 hot spot in the sleepy village of Sheringham, a few miles from Cromer {that's the real Cromer & not the one North Of Sydney}. Apart from punk rocking to The Sex Pistols, Blondie & alike Big Don was staying out of mischief volunteering @ The North Norfolk Railway, helping to rebuild & maintain Stream Locos. Also loved to go down to the chippy on a Saturday night to get cod & chips, sometimes a faggot or two with plenty of batter, then go home & watch Match Of The Day on The Telly, but apart from The Football Big Don has always had a passion for The Game Of Cricket, nothing like the sound of leather on willow @ the village green on a sunny English Summer's Afternoon, if paradise were to be described, it has just been written. It was a time to keep a memento of that years cricket on the national scene too, so although am sure a number of viewers might find this video a tad tedious, please allow a little indulgence from Big Don once in a while. I have audio & alike going back to 1969 some that would indeed interest a fellow or two, but I do digress. The first five minutes or so of this video features an audio cassette that has suffered some deterioration over time, but still ...
