Gangsta rap is a subgenre of hip hop music that evolved from hardcore hip hop and purports to reflect urban crime and the violent lifestyles of inner-city youths. Lyrics in gangsta rap have varied from accurate reflections to fictionalized accounts. Gangsta is a non-rhotic pronunciation of the word gangster. The genre was pioneered in the mid-1980s by rappers such as Schoolly D and Ice-T, and was popularized in the later part of the 1980s by groups like N.W.A. After the national attention that Ice-T and N.W.A attracted in the late 1980s and early 1990s, gangsta rap became the most commercially lucrative subgenre of hip hop. Gangster rappers have been associated, or allegedly have ties with the Bloods or Crips gangs.

The subject matter inherent in gangsta rap has caused a great deal of controversy. Criticism has come from both left wing and right wing commentators, and religious leaders, who have accused the genre of promoting violence, profanity, sex, homophobia, racism, and plenty more.

Some commentators (for example, Spike Lee in his satirical film Bamboozled) have criticized it as analogous to black minstrel shows and blackface performance, in which performers both black and white were made up to look African American, and acted in a stereotypically uncultured and ignorant manner for the entertainment of audiences. Gangsta rappers often defend themselves by saying that they are describing the reality of inner-city life, and that they are only adopting a character, like an actor playing a role, which behaves in ways that they may not necessarily endorse.

A hilarious music video featuring some of your favorite or perhaps not-so-favorite Star Wars characters like you've never seen them before. IMPORTANT NOTE: This video is not mine, and I do not take any credit for it. Here are the lyrics (although please note that they are not absolutely correct, as I do not have confirmation from the artists). Admiral: This is Admiral Biatch to base camp, it seems the stormtroopers have gone on strike and I have no experience with this type of shit. Who should I call for help? Vader: It's the V to the A to the DER (Vader!) Reconstructin' the Death Star! With my slick suede suit that's black like tar, Fucking you up no matter who you are! Palpatine: Tell them motherfuckers 'bout this here Dark Side! Pull up on your planet, Death Star drive-by! And we'll beat the Rebels 'cause their skills ain't shit! Vader: And in my TIE Fighter, Zig-zags stay lit! Yoda: Oh, shit! Yoda on the scene, 900 year fiend smoking Dagobah green! Bitches on my tip, like Lando on liquor. Lando: Ah, you're just jealous 'cause my black dick's thicker. Chewbacca: *Wookie yell* Lando: Yo! Tell 'em Chewie, last night I had Leia all drunk wanting to do me. Luke: Shut the fuck up man! Leia's my sister! The only thing you're getting is a beat-off blister. Ben Kenobi: Luke! Use the force before intercourse, but Luke! Don't forget! Bitches ain't nothing but hos and tricks! (Ohh!) Luke: Obi-Wan, I'm the top gun! (top gun) The chosen one, hotter than both suns! Vader ain't shit ...

Name: Eazy E - Boyz N' Tha Hood Info: Eric Lynn Wright. Born September 7, 1963--March 26 1995. Eric is better known by the stage name Eazy-E. He was an American rapper, producer, and record executive from Anoush Street in Compton. He was a Kelly Park Compton Crip (although he was connected to many other Crip gangs) from the early teenage years, and until his death. He is widely regarded as one of the founders of the gangsta rap sub-genre and initially rose to fame as a member of the group NWA, but later achieved critical and commercial success as a solo artist. Eazy-E's vocal style was marked by his youthful, high-pitched voice and his lyrics focusing on the elements of urban street life such as guns, drugs, relations between residents and the police, and deviant sexual activity. He had also for some time hosted a hip-hop radio show on Los Angeles-based radio station KKBT. For several years, he operated solely in the rap underground, eventually surfacing in the mid-'90s as a recording artist and producer who knew exactly what his audience wanted. And what they wanted was gangsta rap. With his independent label No Limit, Master P gave them gangsta rap at its most basic -- violent, vulgar lyrics, hard-edged beats, whiny synthesizers, and blunted bass. He wasn't a great rapper, nor was anyone on No Limit; occasionally, the No Limit rappers were even talentless and clumsy. But in a time when major labels were running away from the controversy that gangsta rap caused and Dr. Dre, the father of the genre, was proclaiming it dead, Master P stayed on course, delivering album after album of unadulterated gangsta. It was recorded cheaply and packaged cheaply, and almost all of the records on No Limit were interchangeable, but that didn't matter, because Master P kept making money and getting paid.
