Decatur is a city in Root and Washington townships, Adams County, Indiana, United States. The city, which serves as the county seat of Adams County , takes its name after the prominent war hero Stephen Decatur, Jr., one of the captains of the original 6 frigates of the US navy. When Indiana claimed official statehood in 1816, Decatur's name was as well known and revered as any star/celebrity today, thus when the town of Decatur was founded in 1836 it took its name in honor of the war hero. The population of Decatur was 9,405 at the 2010 census

Decatur County Senior Circuit Judge W. Michael Wilke proclaimed: "The defendant will be released from the Department of Corrections" and Kristine Bunch, the Indiana woman convicted of setting a 1995 fire that killed her 3-year-old son, was released for the first time after 16 years in prison. Bunch's case drew the attention of the Center on Wrongful Convictions at Northwestern University School of Law. The Indiana Court of Appeals last week ordered the local court to allow Bunch's release on bond while she awaits her second trial. Bunch's family put up bond money for her in 1996. Experts from the Center on Wrongful Convictions at Northwestern University School of Law said scientific advances suggest the fire wasn't deliberately set. The Indiana Court of Appeals ruled in March that prosecutors should have provided Bunch's defense with a lab report that allegedly found no trace of kerosene in her son's bedroom.

This video clip is a continuation of my earlier clip, 'Caboose Ride on the Decatur Sub'. All of the same general issues apply that I noted in my narrative description for part 1. The movie begins at about Milligan, Indiana, just after crossing over county road 1050E. The milepost for Milligan is MP 172.4. The camera focuses on a long white building to the right side of the track. This was a restaurant that I went to every chance I had. It was run by a little old lady, serving home-cooked meals at lunch time to all the farming families in the area. It was very in-expensive; and there was only ever one entrée' on the menu. But it was always good! Next, we cross state route 236 on a long skew crossing. We then see Charlie Hutchins driving on the north side of the track, likely on 236. We then cross SR 59, just before we go over the Little Raccoon Creek. Of course, this bridge is gone now. We then cross over SR 36, Guion Road, and this bridge is gone as well. This was a very interesting railroad location. At one time there was a railroad running roughly north-south under the B&O. As far as I can tell, this line started life as the Logansport, Crawfordsville and Southwestern Railroad, and later became part of the Pennsylvania Railroad. It was gone long before this movie was made in 1984. What surprised me was that there was a connecting track at one time between the two railroads on a very steep grade. Looking at Google aerial map, I can still make out the location of the ...
