The Town of Windsor is a Home Rule Municipality in Larimer and Weld counties in the U.S. state of Colorado. According to the 2010 Census, the population of the town was 18,644. Windsor is located in the region known as Northern Colorado. Windsor is situated 59 mi (95 km) north of the Colorado State Capitol in Denver.

Reports are that he got pelted by massive hail and the windshield of their vehicle was shattered. Also note that as of 5/23/2008 the NWS is not ready to categorize this "Windsor" Colorado twister. ** Here's and update -- clipped from KUSA Denver ** KUSA - The final report on the strength of the Windsor tornado was released Monday by the National Weather Service. The devastating tornado sliced through northern Colorado on May 22, left one person dead and many people homeless. The storm known as the "Windsor Tornado" had a path 34 miles long. The damage path was one mile wide in some locations. After studying the damage the National Weather Service estimates the storm had 130 to 150 mph winds. This rating would place the tornado at a high EF2 to a medium EF3 on the new Enhanced Fujita Scale. The tornado's peak winds of 150 mph will be used to classify the storm so it will go into the records as an EF3. The Enhanced Fujita Scale is now used by the National Weather Service to determine storm strength. Researchers found that the original Fujita Scale overestimated tornadic winds.

The music piece is called Pianos from the Serenade Schizophrana by Danny Elfman. Update 5/24/08 - My wife and I just got back visiting our parents in Windsor. We also took a drive around to where we could get to and saw some of the damage. Once you get to about 5th street is where you start seeing damage and trees up rooted. Streets once lined with big beautiful trees are now barren. There are condemned houses the further east you go. The town cemetary used to have old trees there as well, but almost all of them are gone. It's a very sad site. People are out trying to clean up what they can. There was people in city park helping to clear the downed trees. All streets from 2nd street east are closed. There are alot of people from around Colorado helping out with the clean up. There are some business open, some using generators some have their power back on. Main power could be restored by Monday or Wednesday. They are letting people in to their home to gather and salvage what they can, but it will be a slow process. I'll update again when I have more info or send me a message and I'll reply. Update 5/25/08 - Residents have been let back into their homes. Of the 596 homes assessed, 340 have been cleared for occupancy. An additional 154 homes are habitable, but will require repairs. An additional 102 homes have been declared unsafe to occupy. More power has been <b>...</b>

This shot is from a video camera in Greeley of the tornado as it passes over Highway 34 and goes over the state farm building. You can actually see cars on highway 34 as the tornado approaches the highway before going over the building (about middle of screen). just amazing and scary! *i did not shoot this video or claim ownership, it was forwarded to me and I felt compelled to post it as a result of its awesomeness and need for people to see this!

This is the few seconds of video I got before the Tornado alarms went off and I had to run to the locker room. Sorry I didn't get any more than this. If you look closely, you can actually see the funnel cloud on the left. This came within 1/4 mile from us, and did a lot of damage to the town.
