'The Pick, the Sickle and the Shovel', released October 14, 1997, is the second album by the Gravediggaz, an influential horrorcore hip hop supergroup. The album has a more socially conscious sound to it and is considerably more calm than its predecessor, and features heavy production input by the RZA and his production team The Wu Elements.

Prince Paul was barely involved in the making of this album although he did produce the outro and the skit preceeding "Hidden Emotions". He was still billed as an official member of the group however, and appeared on the cover and inserts of the album.

Two singles were released from the album, "Dangerous Mindz" and "The Night the Earth Cried", though neither made it to the Billboard charts.

The Rza killin it on this track. So I posted the lyrics from lyricsdownload.com As long as you got mentally dead people Who are living in a mental death Meaning living in a mental grave you need somebody to dig that grave up and bring them back to life There's no chance for a physical death but there's chance for the mentally dead (Yo one two one two two) So we gonna come and resurrect them That's why they call me the Rzarector I'm out to resurrect the mental dead, by diggin up they graves Bringin em back to the surface Niggaz is caught up in the midst of six You better grab a hold of your crucifix And this is it, the black God exists Can you understand this? Let me teach you a lesson, yo The pre-existence of the mathematical biochemical equations The manifestations of God, Earth Air Fire and Water which are in it's basic formation, solid liquid and gases that caused the land masses, and the space catalyst and all matter that exists and is dense Third dimension, that must be observed through physical comprehension It takes a nerve to be struck, wisdom is the wise poet spoken to wake up, the dumb who've been sleeping The fourth dimension is time, it goes inside the mind Run the channels energized up through the back of your spine So observe as my G energy strikes a vital nerve One swerve of the tongue it pierces like a sword through the lung Have you not heard, that words kill as fast as bullets when you load negative thoughts, to the chamber of your brain And your mouth ...

'Music, Magic, Myth' is the debut album of The Last Emperor, the recording name of Jamal Gray. Gray produces and raps on most of the tracks, with the exception of some guest artists. The Last Emperor makes a nice change from many rappers by being totally modest - he never proclaims how he's the toughest rapper ever, but instead focuses here on creating a quality mellow alternative hip-hop album. The best song on the album is arguably 'One Life', which really shows The Last Emperor's talent in using unorthodox samples to create totally unique and brilliant hip-hop. 'One Life' is rapped brilliantly by guest Too Poetic from Gravediggaz, about his fight with cancer. If there was a contest for the most beautiful rap song ever, this would definitely be a strong contender. With a simple acoustic guitar loop, backing vocals, saxophone and violin coupled with Too Poetic's heartfelt emotional lyrics and vocals, 'One Life' is a genuinely heart-wrenching song. Other highlights are 'Prisoner' with it's menacing yet catchy bass-line and rising synths and 'Do You Care' with a fantastic jazzy piano loop. Anthony Ian Berkeley (November 15, 1964 -- July 15, 2001) better known as Poetic, was an American rapper and producer. He was also a founding member of the hip-hop group, Gravediggaz, where he used the alias Grym Reaper. In April 1999, Anthony collapsed in his home studio with stomach pains and was subsequently diagnosed with colon cancer. There are different versions of his initial ...
