'The Journal' is a daily newspaper produced in Newcastle upon Tyne. Published by ncjMedia, (a division of Trinity Mirror), The Journal is produced every weekday and Saturday morning and is complemented by its sister publications the Evening Chronicle and the Sunday Sun.

The newspaper mainly has a middle-class and professional readership throughout North East England, covering a mixture of regional, national and international news. It also has an award-winning daily business section and sports page as well as the award-winning monthly Culture magazine and weekly property supplement Homemaker.

Farming is also an important part of the paper with a high readership in rural Northumberland.

It is the named sponsor of The Journal Tyne Theatre.

A folio-sized newspaper entitled The Newcastle Journal was first published on 7 April 1739 by Isaac Thompson and William Cuthbert. This paper, however, ceased publication before the end of the 18th century and was not the progenitor of the present Journal. The first edition of that was printed on 12 May 1832, and subsequent Saturdays, by Hernaman and Perring, 69 Pilgrim Street, Newcastle. On 12 May 2007, The Journal celebrated its 175th Anniversary and 49,584th issue.

The first newspaper to be printed in Newcastle - and also the first regional newspaper to appear north of the River Trent - was the Newcastle Courant (1 August 1711). The Courant is no longer printed.

The Journal was named North East Newspaper of the Year in 2007 and 2008 at the Tom Cordner North East Press Awards.

Freedom of the press is not in a healthy state in Latvia. Ahead of the elections the oligarchs are trying to gain control of more and more newspapers and TV chanels.Latvia's largest newspaper has just been sold to a close business friend of candidate for prime minister Ainars Slesers. He can look forward to positive coverage during the campaign. TV journalist Ilze Nagla investigates links like that and tries to uncover corruption in the state. That is not making her a popular figure. Her computer has been searched and an important informer arrested.

This was an interesting read about how partners who are NT can cope with an AS partner and ways to handle the situation. Asperger syndrome (AS) is a developmental disorder. It is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), one of a distinct group of neurological conditions characterized by a greater or lesser degree of impairment in language and communication skills, as well as repetitive or restrictive patterns of thought and behavior. Other ASDs include: classic autism, Rett syndrome, childhood disintegrative disorder, and pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified (usually referred to as PDD-NOS). Unlike children with autism, children with AS retain their early language skills.
