The club is one of only five teams that competed in all Brazilian National League's first division championships since its inception in 1971. Internacional is ranked first in Americas and sixth in the World in number of paying members, with more than 104,000 members. In over 100 years of history, the team revealed several great players like Chilean Elias Figueroa and Brazilians Falcão, Valdomiro, Taffarel, Dunga, Alexandre Pato, Rafael Sobis, Nilmar and Lucio. Internacional are the reigning South American champions, having won the 2010 Copa Libertadores title; this is their second Libertadores title. The year 2006 was the most successful year in Inter's history as they won the Copa Libertadores final when they defeated the defending champions São Paulo and also won the 2006 FIFA Club World Cup defeating Barcelona. Other international titles include the 2007 Recopa Sudamericana, the 2008 Copa Sudamericana and the 2009 Suruga Bank Cup. |
