Scio, New York Video

In the August 2, 2009 edition of The Dallas Morning News there on page 6A appeared an article titled, "Warship honors valiant Marine," reprinted from the Associated Press (AP). The article was in reference to Marine Corporal Jason L. Dunham, hometown Scio, New York, having a ship christened and named after him. The ship USS Jason Dunham, an Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyer. The ship was built and christened at the Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine. The ship was christened by Marine Corporal Dunhams mother. Reading the article one was left to question why this ship was named after this Marine corporal. The Dallas Morning News purposely omitted from the article the fact that Marine Corporal Jason L. Dunham was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his ultimate sacrifice of his life to save his fellow comrade in arms. It was 2004 in Iraq, a hand-grenade was activated, Marine Corporal Dunham covered the grenade with his helmet, thrust his body upon the helmet to protect his fellow Marines, and died due to the resulting explosion. Congress awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor CMA to Marine Corporal Dunham, and President George Bush presented the Medal of Honor to the Dunham family. The Associated Press reported Marine Corporal Dunham was awarded the Medal of Honor; it was The Dallas Morning News who decided to delete this fact from their article. Clips are in chronological order. Sorry it's kind of hard to see; you might want to switch to 480p if that helps. These are the helicopters of PJ Gelinas and RC Murphy at the NY State competition last weekend. Gelinas had two helicopters because one was flying as exhibition and the other was competing. The order of flights is Gelinas (competing), Gelinas (exhibition), Gelinas (competing) again, Murphy. So the two guys made a practice flight first, and then my partner and I did an official flight, as exhibition. We only did one because our rubber broke when we were winding it the first time. Yes, that's me. I'm the one who kind of bounced once, and then covered my mouth and hung onto my partner during the flight. I fondly named our helicopter the Helicrapter, and I call the other Gelinas ones the Helicop-Ter, and the Murphy one Wok. Helicrapter: Average time - 35.99 seconds. Place - Exhibition, but the judges were nice enough to tell me that it would have gotten in 8th place had we been competing. We only tested it once before, the morning that we left for States. It actually got a time of 1:04, but we made some adjustments that night at the hotel (different rubber orientation, another rib to support broken Mylar). It weighed exactly 4.0 grams. Helicop-Ter: Average time - ? Place - 2nd. These guys were chugging out helicopters like it was as easy as breathing, I swear. I think the first one they tried to fly was the one that they built the night before competition, at the ...
