Genesee is a town in Allegany County, New York, United States. The population was 1,803 at the 2000 census.

For the first three weekends in December (ride again during these weekends in 2009 too!), the New York Museum of Transportation operated its "Holly Trolley Rides" in cooperation with Remelt's Evergreen Acres Christmas Tree Farm which borders the NYMT property. Visitors to either the tree farm or the museum were able to board the NYMT ex-Philadelphia & Western 'Strafford' interurban car for a ride on the museum's demonstration railroad that connects the NYMT to the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum. From November to the start of May, the NYMT is open on Sundays, but trolley rides are not offered except for special events like this one. From May through October, trolley and track car rides connecting the NYMT to the R&GVRRM are offered on Sundays. On this Saturday, December 13, 2008, the weather started sunny with blue skies only to have Rochester's ever variable weather shift quickly to overcast with a good breeze. This did not damper the spirits of the trolley crew or the people who rode the Holly Trolley with the car's heaters working to keep the occupants warm on this cold day. In the video, we find ex-Lehigh Valley Railroad ALCO RS-3m #211 switching the museums ex-New York Central 'Empire State Express' stainless train set along with other cars and locomotives waiting their turn at the shop or undergoing active repair or restoration. The museum is always seeking new volunteers to come and join our railroad operations department. With yearly training courses, new people are welcome to join and learn to operate our railroad collection. Did you ever want to run a locomotive? We might be able to help. The New York Museum of Transportation was the host museum for the 2009 version of Winterfest. Operations featured the NYMT's two ex-Philadelphia & Western 'Strafford' cars #161 & 168. To add to the operating menu, the R&GVRRM operated a diesel powered train to meet up with car #161 in order to take participants to tour the R&GVRRM and its restoration shop.
