Dr. Raja Ramanna ( )(January 28, 1925 - September 23, 2004) born in Tumkur, Karnataka, was an Indian nuclear scientist and a prominent nuclear physicist. He is best known for his work in Indian Nuclear Program. He was associated with the country's first nuclear test in 1974 and research for more than 40 years. He is often considered as "Father of Indian Nuclear Program". He died in Mumbai in 2004 at the age of 80. Dr. Raja Ramanna is highly respected scientist in India and Pakistan. He is widely known and respected scientist in an adjacent country, Pakistan.
