Psychedelic folk or psych folk is a loosely defined music genre that originated in the 1960s through the fusion of folk music and psychedelic rock. It retained the largely acoustic instrumentation of folk, but added musical influences common to psychedelic rock and the psychedelic experience.

A video I made with the song "Everybody's been burned' by The Byrds, from their album "Younger then yesterday", released in 1967. Lyrics: Everybody's been burned before Everybody knows the pain Anyone in this place Can tell you to your face Why you shouldn't try to love someone Everybody knows it never works Everybody knows and me I know that door that shuts Just before you get to the dream You see... I know all too well How to turn, how to run How to hide behind A bitter wall of blue But you die inside If you choose to hide So I guess instead, I'll love you... The Byrds were an American rock and roll band. Formed in Los Angeles, California in 1964, The Byrds underwent several personnel changes, with frontman Roger McGuinn remaining the sole consistent member until the group's disbandment in 1973. Their trademark songs include covers of Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man" and "My Back Pages" and Pete Seegers "Turn! Turn! Turn!", as well as the originals "Ill Feel a Whole Lot Better", "Eight Miles High" and "So You Want to Be a Rock 'n' Roll Star." The Byrds were popular and influential during the mid-1960s and into the early 1970s. Initially, the band played folk rock, melding influences such as the British Invasion sound, contemporary folk and pop music. Later they expanded their sound into such sub-genres as space rock, psychedelic rock and, on their 1968 album Sweetheart of the Rodeo, country rock. During 1991 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In ...

King Crimson is a rock band founded in Dorset, England in 1969. Although often categorised as a foundational progressive rock group, the band has incorporated diverse influences and instrumentation during its history (including jazz and folk music, classical and experimental music, psychedelic rock, hard rock and heavy metal, new wave, gamelan, electronica and drum and bass). The band has been influential on many contemporary musical artists, and has gained a large cult following despite garnering little radio or music video airplay. The band's lineup (centred on guitarist Robert Fripp) has persistently altered throughout its existence, with eighteen musicians and two lyricists passing through the ranks. A greater degree of stability was achieved later on in its history, with current frontman Adrian Belew having been a consistent member since 1981. Though originating in England, the band has had a mixture of English and American personnel since 1981. The debut lineup of the band was influential, but short-lived, lasting for just over one year. Between 1970 and 1971, King Crimson was an unstable band, with many personnel changes and disjunctions between studio and live sound as the band explored elements of jazz, funk and classical chamber music. By 1972 the band had a more stable lineup and developed an improvisational sound mingling hard rock, contemporary classical music, free jazz and jazz-fusion before breaking up in 1974. The band re-formed with a new line-up in 1981 ...

HP Lovecraft was an American psychedelic rock group in the 1960s, later resurrected with a revised line-up as Lovecraft in the 1970s. The band was named for the famous horror writer. Originally formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1967, they relocated to San Francisco, California the following year. History: HP Lovecraft fashioned a hybrid of acid-folk-rock and oddly striking vocal harmonies from two contrasting sources. Band founder George Edwards had been a folk troubadour in Chicago, California, and Florida, and whose repertoire included covers of The Beatles Norwegian Wood and Bob Dylans Quit Your Low Down Ways, as well as early songs by Fred Neil and Terry Callier, with both of whom he played in clubs. Vocalist/keyboard player Dave Michaels, who had previously played in jazz groups with David Sanborn, boasted a classical training and a four-octave range. After covering Chip Taylors Any Way That You Want Me with members of Chicago band The Rovin Kind , Edwards and Michaels became the creative force behind the group. After getting clearance from the executors of the science fiction writer HP Lovecraft, they recruited Tony Cavallari (lead guitar), Mike Tegza (drums) and Jerry McGeorge (bass) (who had previously seen the group perform at The Cellar, a dance club in the northwestern suburbs of Chicago [3] ). A debut album for Philips, HP Lovecraft, soon followed. Featuring a nine-piece orchestra, it juxtaposed covers such as Dino Valentes hippie anthem Get Together and the ...

A really fantastic psychedelic-folk song by Espers taken from their VERY RARE LP(only 300 made!) I own this so the sound is a high quallity mp3,also the fotos are from this LP (except band's fotos). B iography (by Official Press) Espers started appearing around the Philadelphia area in 2002 and quickly established themselves as one of the beautiful new bands in the world these days. Since Espers self-titled (and acclaimed) first album was released in early 2004, a lot has gone down. Addressing today directly, the band collated the ups and downs that formed their lives over the last two years and infused their new songs with a light and darkness that proved transformative when the time to make music came again. And so we thank the gods for the light and darkness. From the beginning, Espers has been a living growing thing. II finds the group at sextet size, with greater powers and capabilities than before. Still, the original spirit of the band — the American ideal of the democracy (that is in no way reflected in its current goverment) — rules Espers in everything they do, gives them true freedoms to reach for the spiritual and the fun at once, and to make their music from it. The sound of ESPERS II was achieved using a mad variety of instruments, from your standard everyday Martin 6-string acoustics, Fender jazzbass and drumkit to more exotic implements such as doumbek, dholak and male & female larynx (which we assume are swung around in the air to produce a recorder-like ...

"Skip's Song" aka "Seeing" Sixth track on side two of Moby Grape '69. Written by Skip Spence Recorded November 6, 1967. Moby Grape is an American rock group from the 1960s, known for having all five members contribute to singing and songwriting and that collectively merged elements of folk music, blues, country, and jazz together with rock and psychedelic music. Due to the strength of their debut album, several critics consider Moby Grape to be the best rock band to emerge from the San Francisco music scene in the late sixties. The group continues to perform occasionally. As described by Jeff Tamarkin, "The Grape's saga is one of squandered potential, absurdly misguided decisions, bad-luck, blunders and excruciating heartbreak, all set to the tune of some of the greatest rock and roll ever to emerge from San Francisco. Moby Grape could have had it all, but they ended up with nothing, and less." Peter Lewis rhythm guitar, vocals Bob Mosley bass, vocals Jerry Miller lead guitar, vocals Don Stevenson drums, vocals Skip Spence - vocals Taken from Wikipedia.
