Painted Post is a village in Steuben County, New York, United States. The village is in the town of Erwin, west of the city of Corning. The population was 1,842 at the 2000 census. The name comes from a painted and carved post found by explorers at the junction of three local rivers. Corning-Painted Post Airport (7N1) is west of the village.

This mural was painted by the artist in the Ryder Retail Station Post Office in Brooklyn, New York. Featuring the Brooklyn Dodgers, this wall mural is of historic significance as it documents baseball players, the famous Ebbets Fields, and the important attention to detail of the famous right field advertisements and baseball memorabilia from a time fondly remembered by New Yorkers. The wall mural uses a technique called trompe l'oeil (pronounced tromploy) to create the illusion that the wall has been cracked open and you can step into the mural and join the players on the baseball diamond at Ebbets Field. The artist, Bonnie Siracusa, painted herself in the corner of the mural, portrayed painting the mural. Ebbets Field was a Major League Baseball Park located in Flatbush, New York (now Crown Heights) and the home of the Brooklyn Dodgers. In 1960, Ebbets Field was destroyed and replaced by apartment buildings but fond memories of the baseball played their lives on.
