Robert Matthew Van Winkle (born October 31, 1967), best known as Vanilla Ice, is an American rapper known for the 1990 smash hit "Ice Ice Baby." One of the first white rappers to find mainstream success, Van Winkle's popularity was short lived. He has continued to make music, but has not recaptured the levels of fame he enjoyed earlier in his career. It was widely reported that Van Winkle had been threatened and assaulted by Death Row Records CEO, who forced Van Winkle to sign the publishing rights to him. Van Winkle stated that Knight took him "to the balcony and talked to me, but it's funny how the story gets turned around...I'm wondering how that story got changed around". In 1996, he appeared on the Bloodhound Gang track "Boom" under his real name, which led to a moderate revival in popularity, and thus the first new Vanilla Ice material in four years. SBK had signed him to a new deal, and Hard to Swallow was released in 1998 and produced by Ross Robinson, known for his work with bands such as Korn and Limp Bizkit. The album was radically different from Van Winkle's previous works, as it was centered around nu metal rather than hip hop. Guest artists on the album included Doug Ardito of Puddle of Mudd and Scott Borland. Though the record eventually went gold, it soon slipped from public consciousness.

Coal Chamber was an American nu metal band from Los Angeles, California. The band formed in 1994 and disbanded in 2003. Former vocalist Dez Fafara and Meegs Rascon started She's In Pain in 1992. The two decided to create Coal Chamber in 1994. Their first drummer John Thor was eventually replaced by Mike Cox (who beat his older brother for the spot). Then bassist Rayna Foss joined, completing the Coal Chamber lineup. In late 1994, Dino Cazares of Fear Factory championed a demo tape by Coal Chamber, causing a huge local stir with gigs at The Roxy Theatre and Whisky A Go Go, eventually leading Coal Chamber to an offer to sign with Roadrunner Records. Fafara dropped out of the band quite suddenly due to disagreements with his wife about the band. In the spring of 1995, Dez reunited with Coal Chamber, ending his marriage but revitalizing the band. With a renewed sense of energy, Coal Chamber was able to regain their deal with Roadrunner by the end of 1995. In 1997 their debut self-titled album Coal Chamber was released. They toured very heavily supporting this album. The album spawned one single and video, "Loco". The video was also added as an extra after the ending credits of Dee Snider's film, Strangeland. The band also did an exclusive song for the soundtrack titled 'Not Living'. Chamber Music followed two years later. Between the two releases and after the band's tour with metal act Sevendust, bassist Rayna Foss had gotten married to Sevendust's drummer Morgan Rose. She ...

This is a time lapse of the Los Angeles Wildfires I shot from my balcony in Elysian Park (next to Dodger's Stadium). I started it in the afternoon and let it run through sunset and into the night. The song used is "Nu Metal" by Beware of Safety. If you like it, you can (legally!) download the whole album for free at www.gimmiesound.com/bewareofsafety Apologies for the shifting light level. This is the first time lapse I've done in awhile and I wasn't paying close enough attention to the exposure setting during sunset. Probably should have adjusted the aperture and not the exposure setting blah blah blah enjoy it for what it is.
