The Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Norwegian: Det kongelige Utenriksdepartement) is the foreign ministry of the Kingdom of Norway. It was established on June 7, 1905, the same day the Parliament of Norway (Stortinget) decided to dissolve the personal union with Sweden. The ministry is headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs, currently Jonas Gahr Støre, and the Minister of International Development, currently Erik Solheim. They have been cabinet ministers in the Red-Green Coalition government headed by Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg since October 17, 2005. The ministry must not be related with the Norwegian Ministry of Defence that leads the defence-related agencies and units of the country. |
