Matthew Vaughn (born 7 March 1971 in London, England) is an English film producer and director known for producing such films as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) and Snatch (2000) and directing the films Layer Cake (2004), Stardust (2007) and Kick-Ass (2010). His latest film is the 2011 superhero film X-Men: First Class.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" -- The last film in the popular Harry Potter franchise gave us a satisfying conclusion. We laughed, we cried, and we felt vindicated for standing by our favorite boy wizard for the last 10 years. JK Rowling's saga on the boy who lived will forever have eternal life in cinema history. 2. "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" -- This sci-fi film renewed my faith in Hollywood sequels, remakes, and prequels. While it's not a perfect movie, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" did something short of miraculous. We all knew where the movie was heading, but somehow, the film felt fresh and exciting. Big credit goes to director Rupert Wyatt for creating a cerebral popcorn film. 3. "Super 8" -- Director JJ Abrams and producer Steven Spielberg teamed up for this excellent coming-of-age film told using the canvass of movie zombies, a rampaging alien, and the world of super 8mm cameras. Abrams showcased his great storytelling skills aided by a bunch of gifted child actors headed by Elle Fanning. It looks like Kick-Ass 2 is officially moving forward and this time we mean it! Despite claims from creator Mark Millar back in February that Kick-Ass 2 would be going into production this summer, not much movement has been made on the comic book sequel...that is until now. Deadline has confirmed that Universal is moving forward with the project and hoping to start production this August. The film was a surprise hit when it was released back in 2010 taking in over $100 million worldwide. Director Matthew Vaughn, who is busy with the X-Men: First Class sequel will turn the reigns over to Never Back Down director Jeff Wadlow who also penned the script. One hurdle the production will face is signing the film's original cast that included Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse who have all seen their stars rise since the original films release. None were locked in for sequels, so new deals will need to be made for them to reprise their roles and of course schedules will have to be worked out, which could be difficult, especially for Chloe Grace Moretz who played Hit Girl. Moretz currently has five films in pre-production, including the remake of Stephen King's Carrie. No release date has been set, but John Romita Jr who illustrated the comic book recently spoke about the project and suggested a May 2013 release <b>...</b>
