Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) or in Indonesian Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) is a stock exchange based in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was previously known as Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) before its name changed in 2007 after merging with Surabaya Stock Exchange (SSX). As of 28 June 2010, the Indonesia Stock Exchange had 341 listed companies with a combined market capitalization of $269.9 billion. On May 23, 2011 the Indonesia Stock Exchange increasing the number of issuers at the exchange to 425.

On April 20, 2011 the Jakarta Composite Index hits new record and closed at 3,794.76. Trading volume was about Rp.5.9 trillion ($0.68 billion) and the overall market capitalization up to Rp.3,384 trillion ($389 billion). In July 8, 2011 IDX Composite Index broke the psychological barrier of 4,000 and closed at the record of 4,003.69.

Currently opens from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. local time, but since March 2011 has made rehearsal opens since 9:00 a.m. at the weekends when the bourse closed and will be fully implemented in the second half of 2011. The plan to open trading at either 9 a.m. or 8:30 a.m. with closing time will remain unchanged is to accommodate trading hours which fund managers setting strategies based on Singapore and Hong Kong stock exchange.

Jumat, 22 Juli 2011, 50 (Lima Puluh) Perempuan yang tergabung dalam Women's International Club Jakarta mendapat kehormatan untuk datang berkunjung ke Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) dan diterima oleh bapak Isharsaya selaku Kadiv Pemasaran BEI . Kunjungan yang dikoordinasi oleh The Indonesia Capital Market Institute (TICMI) ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan Pasar Modal Indonesia serta berbagi ilmu bagaimana cara berinvestasi di pasar modal. Perempuan sebagai ibu rumah tangga adalah "Menteri Keuangan" di dalam keluarga. Mereka dituntut untuk cakap dalam mengelola keuangan keluarga, bisa menyisihkan uang sebagai tabungan serta cerdas dan bijak dalam menentukan pilihan investasi. Untuk itu, perempuan dituntut untuk mampu memahami berbagai alternatif pilihan investasi selain produk investasi perbankan. Tujuannya tak lain adalah untuk menciptakan kemandirian finansial bagi perempuan. Saat ini pasar modal bisa menjadi salah satu pilihan investasi yang menarik bagi para perempuan dan menjadikannya sebagai seorang WOMENterpreneur; yaitu perempuan yang tetap dapat memiliki waktu penuh untuk mengurus rumah tangga namun juga mampu mencari sumber pendanaan alternative bagi keluarga. Penjelasan tentang bagaimana cara berinvestasi di pasar modal ini disambut dengan antusiasme yang luar biasa dan demo perdagangan on-line yang diperlihatkan mampu membangkitkan berbagai macam pertanyaan seputar bagaimana cara memilih efek yang bisa memberikan prospek keuntungan yang bagus.

Melalui SK No. KEP. 349/BL/2011 tertanggal 6 Juli 2011, Bapepam-LK telah mengeluarkan surat pengakuan resmi atas sertifikat keahlian dari program pendidikan dan pelatihan Wakil Perantara Pedagang Efek yang diselenggarakan oleh TICMI. Mengacu pada peraturan Bapepam LK nomor VB1 perihal Pengajuan Perizinan Wakil Perusahaan Efek; seseorang dapat mengajukan izin profesi dengan melampirkan sertifikat keahlian di bidang Pasar Modal dari lembaga pendidikan khusus di bidang Pasar Modal yang telah mendapatkan pengakuan dari Bapepam dan LK. Dengan demikian, kini semua lulusan TICMI dapat menukarkan sertifikat kelulusan WPPE yang telah diperolehnya guna mendapatkan izin profesi dari Bapepam LK.
