Curtiss, Gail Katz, Barry Levinson, Brian McNulty, Wolfgang Petersen, Paula Weinstein Screenwriter: William D. Wittliff Film Description: In October 1991, a dying tropical hurricane from Bermuda collided with a cold front from the Great Lakes, resulting in a "perfect storm" of previously unknown destructive impact that resulted in 100-foot waves; tragically, the crew of a fishing boat was lost in the midst of the fearsome storm. Based on the best-selling book by Sebastian Junger, The Perfect Storm tells the story of the ship's brave and hard-working crew. Billy Tyne (George Clooney), captain of the Andrea Gail, hasn't had much luck finding catch on his most recent trips to sea, and with money short, he and his crew -- Bob Shatford (Mark Wahlberg), Dale Murphy (John C. Reilly), and David Sullivan (William Fichtner) set out again when they hear that the fish are running. Billy's hunch proves correct, but when the ship's refrigeration system goes haywire, they have to return to shore as quickly as possible before the fish spoil, sending them into the middle of the worst storm in history. Music by Don Freund: SeeNoHearNoSpeakNo for Viola, Bass, and Percussion and three dancers (2011) Choreography by Elizabeth Shea: "Flawed" Rose Wollman, viola, and Rachel Newbrough, dancer -- See No Evil Brian McNulty, percussion, and Kelly McCormick Bangs -- Hear No Evil Dorian Jackman, contrabass, and Jingze Wang, dancer -- Speak No Evil Score: www.donfreund.com SeeNoHearNoSpeakNo was composed for violist Rose Wollman who suggested the idea of a dance piece based on the three wise monkeys of the pictorial maxim "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil." SeeNoHearNoSpeakNo assigns the character of each of these to a member of an instrumental trio who is in turn paired with a dancer. The viola is "SeeNo," whose music consists entirely of different varieties of trills, as she is attacked by buzzings of all the things she can't see. The percussionist ("HearNo") is assigned an array of 12 pots and pans, three courses of four, one course damped, one muted, and the third ringing freeing. Moving from one course to another replicates the effect of covering and uncovering your ears. "SpeakNo" is the string bass, who begins each statement with a boisterous blurting, and then, remembering himself, tones it down gradually to silence. Elizabeth Shea, IU's Director of Contemporary Dance, has created new choreography for this work. Here are Liz's notes: The conception for the dance which accompanies Don Freund's musical composition, SeeNoHearNoSpeakNo, is the flawed characters which ...
