Woolloomooloo is a harbourside, inner-city eastern suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Woolloomooloo is located 1.5 kilometres east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Sydney.

The suburb is located in a low-lying, former docklands area at the head of Woolloomooloo Bay, on Sydney Harbour. The Domain sits to the west, the locality of East Sydney is near the south-west corner of the suburb and the locality of Kings Cross is near the south-east corner. Potts Point sits immediately to the East.

The suburb has historically been a poorer working class district of Sydney. This has changed only recently with recent gentrification of the inner city areas of Sydney. The redevelopment of the waterfront, particularly the construction of the housing development on the Finger Wharf, has caused major change. Areas of public housing (housing commission) still exist in the suburb.

Blue in Woolloomooloo Sydney is Autralia's oldest and largest city and an important harbour and manufacturing city. The city - 4 million people of 180 nationalities sprawled across an area the size of greater London - is beautifully suited at the bay Port Jackson and it is primarily the sea that gives the city is charm and character. The bay divides the city in a northern and southern area with the Harbour Bridge as the connecting link, the so called "hanger". The Sydney Opera House with its exciting architecture has come to represent not only Sydney, but has come to symbolize Australia as a country. The Royal Botanic Gardens is located on land that originally belonged to the first farm in the new colony. The park was founded more than 190 years ago and includes some 400 species and covers an area of more than 27 ha in the downtown area. The park is absolutely fantastic and a tranquil place after a hectic day in the city. Through a happy coincidence Cal whom we have been diving with over the last few days has been able to arranged a helicopter flight with his mate Kessie. Hence we start the Sydney stop with a scenic flight over the city and its surrondings ...

Entry from: Woolloomooloo, Australia Entry Title: "My first hostel in Woolloomooloo" Entry: "So...here we go! Since about 3 weeks already passed I just try to give a little summary of my little journey. After I stayed at the aiport for one night, I've found myself a hostel for the first night which was located in the nice suburb with the funny name Wooloomoolo close by the Botanic Garden and the Opera House. I felt pretty much knocked over because of my jetlag and the weather shock... (temperature difference of about 30° and for what felt like 40° difference. But after that shock I started my trip with my first goal: Terrigal a popular beach in New South Wales." Read and see more at: www.travelpod.com Photos from this trip: 1. "..." 2. "My first palms" 3.
