He was Adelaide’s second selection in the 2008 National Draft, taken at pick 28, and recorded strong results at the 2007 NAB AFL Draft Camp ranking second for the standing vertical leap behind number 2 draft pick Nick Naitanui, and 6th overall in the agility testing. Playing much of his first season for a very poor side in South Adelaide in the SANFL, he made his debut in round 14 against Richmond, and was expected to play his second game against Fremantle the week after. However, his left arm was broken in competitive drills in the final training session of the week, and he is not expected to return to the Adelaide side until 2010. Shaun is the younger brother of Kangaroos premiership ruckman Corey McKernan. |
