Not to be confused with the Seward Peninsula, Seward is a city in Kenai Peninsula Borough in the U.S. state of Alaska. According to 2005 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 3,016.

It was named after William H. Seward, United States Secretary of State under Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson. In 1867, he fought for the U.S. purchase of Alaska which he finally negotiated to acquire from Russia.

In 1793 Alexander Baranov of the Shelikhov-Golikov company (precursor of the Russian-American Company) established a fur trade post on Resurrection Bay where Seward is today, and had a three-masted vessel, the Phoenix, built at the post by James Shields, an English shipwright in Russian service.

All day charter fishing trip with www.alaskanorthernoutfitters.com for multiple species. We got halibut, salmon, ling cod and more all in one day. We also saw a Humpback whale and orca, and enjoyed the Alaska mountains and landscape on a beautiful day. The crew was very knowledgable, friendly, and experienced. They made sure everyone had a good trip. I highly recommend http Alaska Northern Outfitters out of Seward, Alaska! They are the best!

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The 55-foot fishing vessel Equinox is safely moored in Seward today after being towed in by the Coast Guard Cutter Mustang. The Coast Guard received word at 6:38 am Saturday that the vessel experienced an engine failure and was disabled 34 nautical miles south of Montague Island in the Gulf of Alaska with four people onboard. Sector Anchorage personnel handling the case directed the Mustang to divert from another mission to respond. The Mustang arrived on scene around noon and had the vessel in tow by 1:38 pm Weather conditions for the majority of the transit were favorable. The crew reported unlimited visibility, scattered showers, three-foot seas with six-foot swells and 15-knot winds. Upon turning into Harding Gateway, the channel between Resurrection Bay and Blying Sound, the winds increased to 40 knots and the temperature dropped from 26 degrees Fahrenheit to -12 degrees. They encountered heavy freezing spray and the towline froze but the crew completed the tow without incident. They arrived safely in Seward at 10:53 am today. The Equinox anchored four miles north of the Seward coal terminal. The Mustang crew conducted a post search-and-rescue boarding on the Equinox and found no discrepancies with their safety equipment and documentation. The Equinox was towed into the harbor and to the dock by the motor vessel Junior. The fishing vessel Equinox is a 55-foot purse seiner out of Petersburg. The Coast Guard Cutter Mustang is a 110-foot Island Class ...

Shot in June 2007. The video begins with a view of the Anchorage skyline from across the Cook Inlet in Lynn Ary Park. Next I stop in downtown for a view of the city from a fountain in the center of the city. Next I journey down the very scenic Seward Highway along Turnagain Arm. I made stops at Balooga Point, Bird Creek and McHugh Creek. Next I view Thunderbird Falls in Chugach State Park. The video concludes on a scenic stretch of the Glenn Highway near Palmer, Alaska. On a 2001 cruise to Alaska, part of the fun was ports of call in Ketchikan, Juneau, Haines, Skagway, Seward and Anchorage. This is a mini-travalog of sites from each city and town. www.wetmountainproductions.com

Although all of these pictures are at least a few years old now, this video is me. Alaska captured me and now i call it home. I would like to start making movies again but the camera i used for this video is broken and i dont yet have the money for a new one. It kills me to be whitnesing things much more spectacular than what you see here and not bing able to share it with you. Still today this video speaks volumes to me. Thank you all for watching. -Charles Guinchard Pics from summer 2005 in seward alaska song: drown by smashing pumpkins
