Michael Gayfer (born 17 August 1965) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood in the Australian Football League.

Gayfer was a dour defender for the Magpies, earning the nickname "human blanket" from commentators due to his close marking and tagging of opposition forwards. As a defender, his ability to nullify forwards often drew comparisons to Stephen Silvagni - both frequently used closing speed and flailing arms to make it difficult for forward to mark the ball. Gayfer was skilled at tapping the ball forward to his own advantage and when he did gain possession, he had an accurate kick. He is a personal friend of Australian rules personality Eddie McGuire.
