'Jurassic Park' is a 1993 American science fiction adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg and based on the novel of the same name by Michael Crichton. The film centers on the fictional Isla Nublar (Spanish for "Cloudy Island"), in Costa Rica, where billionaire philanthropist John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) and a team of genetic scientists from his company have created an amusement park of cloned dinosaurs.

Spielberg acquired the motion picture rights to the novel before its publication in 1990, and Crichton himself was hired to adapt the novel into a proper screenplay. David Koepp wrote the final draft, which left out much of the novel's exposition and violence, and made numerous changes to the characters.

Jurassic Park is regarded as a landmark in the use of computer-generated imagery, and received positive reviews from critics, who praised the effects, though reactions to other elements of the picture, such as character development, were mixed. During its release, the film grossed more than $914 million worldwide, becoming the most successful film released up to that time (surpassing E.T. the Extra Terrestrial and surpassed 4 years later by Titanic), and it is currently the 14th highest grossing feature film (taking inflation into account, it is the 18th-highest-grossing film in North America).

Jurassic Park, located on an island (Isla Nublar), and owned by scientist John Hammond (Richard Attenborough), has recently been infested by cloned dinosaurs that scientists have made from fossilized mosquitoes. Hammond invites Dr.s Alan Grant (Sam Neill), and Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) along with Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), lawyer Donald Gennaro (Martin Ferraro) and Hammond's Grandkids: Timothy "Tim" Murphy (Joseph Mazzello) and Alexis "Lex" Murphy (Ariana Richards) to Jurassic Park. He works there with many scientists, including food-lover Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight), Expert hunter Robert Muldoon (Bob Peck) and electrician Ray Arnold (Samuel L. Jackson). When they arrive by the helicopter, Everybody notices the many herbivore dinosaurs around the park. They see a video explaining how the DNA was collected through the mosquitoes and how the scientists made the dinosaurs. Everyone but Hammond and the scientists take the tour, the kids and Gennaro in one vehicle, Alan, Ellie, and Malcolm in the other. They see that they are perfectly safe, the dinosaurs being closed behind 10,000 volt electric fences, and that they feed animals to the dinosaurs. They also find out that the Velociraptors are too dangerous to be in the park, so they are held at the bunker behind much safer gates. The tour goes by the Dilophisoaruses, but everyone is dissapointed that they don't see any. They next come to the tyrannosaurus closure, and they come to a stop, and this time a chained lamb is shown, but everybody is still dissapointed that the dinosaur didn't show up. Meanwhile, Dennis goes through the facility and steals the dinosaur DNA, then turns off all of the electric fences except the Velociraptor's gates. He get's in to his jeep and heads for the East dock, planning on shipping the DNA, but get's stuck in the Dilophisoar habitat and the Dilophisoar there shoots venom in to his eyes and devours him, causing Dennis to drop the DNA holder. Then, everyone gets out of their vehicles to see a triceratops tranquilized by a nearby vet (Gerald R. Molen) The remaining scientists see a storm coming towards the island and order everyone to get back to their vehicles. No one hears this and ignores this. Ellie notices a toxic plant nearby and, to make sure that the dinosaurs aren't eating the plants, checks their droppings. Gennaro notices the storm and starts to worry, telling everybody that they should get back to the vehicles. Ellie also insists that everybody goes back, but she decides to stay with the triceratops and vet. When everybody comes back to the Tyrannosaurus closure, they see that the goat is still there. Tim finds some night vision binoculars under his seat and uses them to zoom in on the gate, and later feels some big thumps. He checks the gate again and sees that the goat is gone. Everyone is confused at first, but suddenly realized what happened to the goat as soon as a bloody leg lands on one of the car windows. Everyone looks up to see the Tyrannosaurus swallow the goat. Gennaro freaks out and abandons the car and in to a nearby bathroom, leaving Lex and Tim. The Tyrannosaurus goes to the car that the kids are in since Lex turns on a flashlight. Tim tells her to turn it off, and he shuts the door, causing the dinosaur to look in to the car. It breaks the top window and and the kids panic, moving frantically. It turns the car over and starts to crush it, but Alan distracts it with a flare and throws the flare in to the closure, and the dinosaur starts to walk in to the habitat until Malcolm, thinking he's helping, lights another flare and distracts it again. He throws the flare but it continues to follow him towards the bathroom Gennaro is hiding in. As Malcolm runs in to the bathroom, the T-Rex destroys the hut, injuring Malcolm and opening the bathroom so that only the toilet Gennaro is sitting on is left. Malcolm is buried under the remains of the hut, and the T-Rex devours Gennaro. The T-Rex returns to the car just as Grant helps Lex out from under it, Tim still trapped under it. Alan and Lex climb down in to the closure, but knocks the car, with Tim inside it, over the edge for a long drop in to a tree. The T-Rex escapes and once Alan and Lex climb down, Alan climbs the tree to see Tim still alive in the car. He helps him out but accidentally turns the steering wheel, causing the tires to rotate and the car to fall. Alan and Tim get to the bottom but they are too late because the car falls on them. Ellie, now at the bunker, goes with Muldoon to the destroyed hut site and find Gennaro's remains: An arm and some bloody tattered clothes. They also find an injured Malcolm, who lost his sunglasses and broke his left leg. They are confused because they see that the kids' car is missing. They put Malcolm in the jeep and climb down the bunker to see the upside down car. They check under it to see if Alan is there, but see foot prints leading away from the vehicle, indicating that Alan and the kids are still alive. Meanwhile, Malcolm looks at a giant foot print left by the Tyrannosaur with water in it. He also hears a rumbling noise like earlier and sees the water rippling. Ellie and Muldoon return and he tells them that they need to go now. They get in the car and start driving just as the T-Rex emerges from some nearby trees and chases them. They barely escape and make it back to the bunker. Meanwhile, Alan and the kids discover some dinosaur eggs in a nest that have been hatched, meaning that the dinosaurs must be changing sex from female to male so that they can breed and make eggs. The group climbs in to a nearby tree and see many Herbivorous dinosaurs in the distance, and Alan promises to stay awake the whole night to make sure that none of the dinosaurs come back in their sleep. Back at the bunker, the group tries to turn the electric fences back on but find that they can't do it with out Dennis, who they know is dead. They then send Arnold to the shed to turn it back on, and they find he turned on only a few things, not including the fences and Arnold doesn't return. Alan, still awake, suddenly sees a herbivore lift it's head right in front of the group. He wakes the kids up, and Alan says they can touch it since it's like a "big cow". They get out of the tree and walk through a field to see some flocking dinosaurs. Everyone notices that they changed directions and Tim says that they are flocking their way. They hide behind a log until the flock passes and they watch on the other side of the log as the T-Rex emerges out of nowhere and devours one of the dinosaurs. They continue on. Meanwhile, since Arnold hasn't returned, Ellie and Muldoon start toward the shed but see that the Velociraptors have escaped from their enclosure. Ellie sees the shed and runs for it while Muldoon tries to find and hunt down the raptors. Ellie manages to get to the panel. Meanwhile, Alan, Tim, and Lex come to the electric fence they need to climb to get out of the Jurassic Park. Alan sees that it's off and he and Lex manage to climb over and on to safety, but Tim is still trying to get down. At the shed, Ellie is about to turn on the electric fences. Alan insists that Tim drops down on the count of three and that he'll catch him, but Tim doesn't do so and starts his own count down for himself to drop down. He counts to two just as Ellie turns the fence on, electrocuting Tim with 10,000 volts, sending him down the fence. Ellie is now overthinking what happened just as a velociraptor emerges from some piping behind her. She traps it behind the gate and backs against the wall. She feels an arm on her shoulder and sees that it's Arnold's arm. She is relieved until she finds that it is severed. She screams and runs for the entrance. Meanwhile, Muldoon is still hunting the raptors and sees one. He loads his AK-47 and aims, but just as he is about to shoot, another raptor emerges from next to him. It jumps on him and devours him. While this is happening, Alan is attempting CPR on Tim to get him breathing again. It works and the group goes to the party tent and kitchen. Alan leaves the kids alone to eat while he reunites with Ellie. At the party tent, Lex notices a shadow behind Tim and they run in to the kitchen and close the door. Alan and Ellie go to the control room and call Hammond and Malcolm at the Bunker, telling them that the phones are working and that they need to call the helicopters. Meanwhile, the two raptors figure out how to use doors and enter the kitchen. Lex manages to knock one of the raptors unconscience with her reflection and Tim locks the other in a supply closet. They run out of the kitchen and the raptor wakes up and follows them to the control room. They reunite with Alan and Ellie and the locks aren't working as the raptor attempts to get through. Lex hacks in to Dennis' computer and sees it's a unit system and manages to close the locks, but the raptor gets through the glass. Alan, Ellie, and the kids manage to escape through the vents and in to the main room but the two raptors follow them there. Just as it looks like all hope is lost, the T-Rex breaks in to the building and devours one of the raptors. The group escapes and meets up with Hammond and Malcolm. They drive to the helicopter as the T-Rex devours the other raptor and let's out a roar, dropping the banner that says WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH. The group gets to the helicopter and Hammond takes a long look at the island. As they fly of, Alan notices some strange-looking birds, giving him the idea that the dinosaurs came from the birds.
