John J. "Jack" DeGioia (born 1957) became the 48th and current President of Georgetown University on July 1, 2001. Since graduating from the university in 1979, he has served both as a senior administrator and as a faculty member. DeGioia is the first lay president of a Jesuit university.

Alexander Aleinikoff, Dean, Georgetown University Law Center John D. Podesta, President and CEO, Center for American Progress, and Georgetown Law Class of 1976 Podesta is the President and CEO of the Center for American Progress. Prior to founding the Center in 2003, he served as White House Chief of Staff to President William J. Clinton. He served in the president's cabinet and as a principal on the National Security Council. While in the White House, he also served as both an assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff, as well as staff secretary and senior policy adviser on government information, privacy, telecommunications security, and regulatory policy. Most recently, he served as co-chair of President Obama's transition. Drinan was a professor at Georgetown Law from 1981 until his death in 2007. He served as a US Representative from Massachusetts for five terms and as the dean of Boston College Law School. A leading voice in the human rights movement for more than half a century, Drinan traveled on humanitarian missions around the globe and was affiliated with numerous organizations devoted to the furtherance of human rights.
